Opinion | Republicans are trying to turn their attacks on Obamacare into self-fulfilling prophecies For those who buy insurance plans through the Affordable Care Act, premiums are about to get much more expensive.

My MSNBC debut, on the rising ACA premiums. The Trump Admin is letting the Biden Admin's enhanced subsidies expire, making marketplace ins prohibitively expensive (so younger/healthier people will drop out, leaving the rest costlier to insure), & tariffs aren't helping. www.msnbc.com/opinion/msnb...

This point β€” in a very insightful post by @adambonica.bsky.social β€” is so obvious that only bad faith actors can deny or ignore it.

Parents and providers know what they need in a childcare system: something simple & safe where all kids have a high quality spot. We worked with Community Change on a new paper w/ research rooted in conversations with stakeholders about these simple demands.

Trouble with having focused on Medicaid alone, instead of naming horror show #MAGAMurderBill, attacking it as financing fascist assault to abduct our neighbors, steal our healthcare, seize more power, is that Medicaid provisions go into effect AFTER midterms.

Washington, D.C., has a population roughly equivalent to Alaska's.

And it has zero senators. If D.C. had senators, the GOP megablil bill would have failed today.

Instead, Murkowski got carve-outs and money for Alaska, and then voted to subject DC to the bill

A word on the sanctity of birthright citizenship: Rights that Black Americans created for our liberationβ€”also benefitting countless othersβ€”are routinely undermined by opponents of our freedom who try to convince us it is in our interest to adopt their narrowest construction. 1/4

Will the Dem leaders and frontline members be β€œpopularist” (join the large majority in opposition to war) or will they fold in the face of Republican bluster (which would tell us a lot about the role popularism actually plays in Dem politics)? www.offmessage.net/p/18-thought...

I am looking for congressional leaders to come out quickly and forcefully against this. We need unequivocal opposition. We need theatric demonstrations of defiance. We need to see leadership. Trump will steamroll us all if we display weakness. Where are our leaders?

Trump's Corporate Oligarchs: Billionaires Cash In While Working People Pay the Price - Popular Democracy in Action

🚨 NEW REPORT: We’re exposing 6 billionaires behind Trump’s cruel agenda.

In order to appease their billionaire donors, Republicans are pushing tax cuts for the ultra-rich and making us pay for it by slashing our survival programs.

I just like to post these data from time to time to puncture the mythological aura of mid 20th c protests. They were less popular than pretty much any 21st c mass action & people criticizing them used the same lines. Protest is about people coming together, shaping narratives, & building power.

What's the Matter with Billionaires? How America's wealthiest sabotage their own prosperity (and ours) to avoid paying taxes

As another Trump-induced market crisis unfolds from tariffs, it's time we ask "What's the Matter with Billionaires?" I've run the numbers. Billionaires do better under Dems. So why do billionaires keep supporting GOP policies against their economic interests? See my latest piece on why. (TLDR πŸ§΅β¬‡οΈ)

Trump backed GOP into a big corner with his β€œbalanced budget” point.

The ONLY way House GOP could even think about upholding their β€œno cuts to Medicaid” swing seat promises and their spending cut mandates is deficit spending and bad math.

Now they have to gut Medicaid & hand it to Elon in public.

The Senate takes 3 votes this afternoon:
1) Go into executive session to consider Russell Vought to be OMB Director
2) Cloture vote for Pam Bondi for Attorney General
3) Confirmation of Christopher Wright for Energy Sec

These should be 3 easy NO votes for Dems. Watch yours and provide that input.

LinkedIN post from Kristy Daphnis

I am getting many calls, asking for advice regarding whether Feds should reply back, with a "yes" to the deferred resignation offer. Here is my take.

Feds - Five reasons you should NOT accept the "buyout":
1. There is no guarantee that you won't have to work between now and Sept '25. Many exceptions are built in, like, your agency head demanding you do "transition of duties" work.
2. Under current law & regulation, only 10 days of admin leave are allowed (5 usc 6329a).
3. Under current ethics and conduct rules, you need permission to hold an "outside position" and often are obligated to report inquiries about job searches. Under this scheme, you are still a Federal employee, and therefore bound by the existing ethics and conduct laws and regulations.
4. Most of the Federal gov is only funded through March 14th. Any promises beyond that...?
5. There is uncertainty around what a "deferred resignation" means - it's all made up. There seems to be no way for the Administration to make promises to you around continuing to get paid, and other aspects of the offer. There *are* legit "buyout" authorities that exist, called Voluntary Separation Incentive Payments and Voluntary Early Retirement Authority. One might ask... "why aren't *these* being used?"
