'If Yiddish isn't safe at Brandeis, where is it safe?' Brandeis, historically a bastion of Jewish education, planned to put its Yiddish program "on hiatus" β€”Β until the Yiddish community spoke out.

Facing budget cuts and dwindling enrollment, Brandeis said it would place its Yiddish program β€œon hiatus” after next year β€” a move that would effectively eliminate the role of Ellen Kellman, the university’s sole Yiddish professor for nearly three decades.

AI is a tool (sorry!) that people who are bad at their jobs will use badly and that people who are good at their jobs will maybe, possibly find some uses for. People who are terrible at their jobs (many executives), will tell their employees that they β€œneed” to use AI, that their jobs depend on it, that they must become more productive, and that becoming an AI-first company is the strategy that will save them from the old failed strategy, which itself was the new strategy after other failed business models.

The only journalism business strategy that works, and that will ever work in a sustainable way, is if you create something of value that people (human beings, not bots) want to read or watch or listen to, and that they cannot find anywhere else.

They’re going to try to make you feel insane for opposing this war. They’ll ignore protests and downplay any opposition. They’ll try to strongarm you into submission.

They did it with Iraq and they’ll do it again.

And then a few years later they’ll pretend they were with you all along.

Hi, this is Meg Barnette, Brad's wife.

While escorting a defendant out of immigration court at 26 Federal Plaza, Brad was taken by masked agents and detained by ICE.

This is still developing, and our team is monitoring the situation closely.

Eugenics is on the rise again: human geneticists must take a stand Scientists must push back against the threat of rising white nationalism and the dangerous and pseudoscientific ideas of eugenics.

Like so many of the trends of the 1880’s-1920’s, eugenics is on the rise. Scientists have a moral obligation to speak up.
