Still the risk will never be zero, what is most important for the success of this plan is for sustained international interest and ability to put pressure on both sides. It is a moment of hope, but too often in the ME, the light at the end of the tunnel turns out to be a train.

The US is the only country to have enough leverage on both sides to bring about a deal. This is true in a lot of the world and it comes with Pax Americana. One reason this can work if this renewed interest in the peace process sustains.

There is something quite important in the peace conference in Egypt yesterday. There was no Hamas or Israeli representative. The PA’s President Abbas was there but in the picture he was in the corner, suitable for his irrelevance in all of this. This signifies the role of, intl community.

Before i start, my honest opinion is this plan will end up like all other plans. It’ll move the needle in some direction but the ambitious parts of the plan are unlikely to be realised.
