A poem may boss you around about love, but the poet is only trying to remember what love stood for and for what it meant.

I can still be that expressive and giving person. I don’t need to feel loved by seeking the validation of others because of my actions. My own humble acts of kindness and quietly showing up for others are its own rewards for what my heart and soul represents.

It’s taken me a while to realize that I can give the world the shirt off my back, I can give the world my unconditional love, and I can give the world amazing support and affirmation, but when it’s not reciprocated or expressed with gratitude in return, it’s not at any fault of mine.

I may not say it enough, but I appreciate my friends. They are all thoughtful, kind, loving, and sassy. They share the sickest things you can think of on one social media platform, recipes in another, and sound life advice in a different one. They’re well rounded. I love that!
