Herald feels much more content-focused out of the box on iOS 26, thanks to the floating toolbar and tab bar. Especially loving the progressive blur scroll-edge effects.

These ultra-translucent interfaces rarely work well as a system, because the transparency introduces way more problems than it solves. It’s form over function.

I’d bet that a lot of this liquid glass stuff will end up more like semi-opaque-frosted-glass in the end. But it looks cool as a demo!

Others have spoken about this too but it seems bizarre to mention TCA when they were using a very outdated and customised fork of it, and there are plenty of optimisation opportunities there. SwiftUI on the other hand, I can totally understand.

Pleasantly surprised by how smooth it was to adapt Herald from iOS to macOS with SwiftUI – my first real Mac app since the AppKit + Objective-C days. The RSS feeds sidebar is feeling quite natural. Still looking for testers, and there's still plenty more to do!
