Institutional philosophy systematically discourages non-conformity, questioning, and thinking outside the slipcase. But even if you keep your nose to the ground and comply, you will need to endear yourself to supervisors to extend you protection and advancement as their ward.

I write a lot about meta-philosophy, i.e. the philosophy of philosophy, because I deem it an at least potentially very important tool for human enlightenment and maturation. Much in my books is meta-philosophy because they seek to foster philosophical thought in their readers.

If we assume our reality is dictated by logic, we are left with logic and its logical progression to explain a planful and even conscious universe. They are inherent. At a human level, we can perceive a complication in matter, energy, and time. The universe coming into its own.

The ingrained culture of academic philosophy is that of an eternal student, equivocating and relativating everything. To warrant its continued societal keep, it will have to come up with conclusions and solutions of "this is what we know so far" after studying for 2500 years.

The AI & robotics revolution carries hope for humankind. A LOT less need for people to do anything administrative or predictable. But opportunities for non-fungible work, which is optimizing the arrangement and innovative advancement of humanity and nature. Truly taking charge.

Reading my notes in the Ilting edition of Hegel's Philosophy of Law, I think I am going to dig up my dissertation draft that is boxed somewhere in the garage. The subject was tracing Hegel's logic in his developing philosophy of law. Maybe I should still do this after I retire?

Academic philosophy is increasingly unable to connect with the real world - and mostly is not trying. Many institutions remind me of monasteries, with much similar occupations dedicated to philosopher gods and apostles.

Why is today's academic philosophy populated by so many insecure, misanthropic, pretentious, grifting, and narcissist personalities? Is the profession attracting their ilk? Or is it forming them? And is this a new phenomenon? I recall Quintilian complaining about much the same.
