The effect is the same. But the padlock is not annoying any longer and the spikes are kept more stable in the tube.

You installed it the most common way. But there's still another, less obvious way:
Just remove the small rubber plug on the inside and install the spikes (with a smaller padlock) by using the inside hole.
Nobody will notice the installed spikes but you will feel it whenenver you get hard. 😈😬
