Calling AI "slop" has been one of the most effective instances of the public rebranding a product and it pisses them off.

Anita Anand had to delete a tweet that quoted a speech saying Canada was neither alerted nor involved. I like what Greaves has to say here.

Public Service Announcement: When the price of gasoline jumps this week, remember it was refined from oil (mostly Canadian) produced weeks ago, only 2% of which comes from the Middle East. It's a policy choice, not 'market forces', that explains why you'll pay more (and oil profits will soar). /2

Trump’s war is so unpopular that Republicans are now resorting to posting fake footage to prop it up.

β€˜Yahoos’: Preston Manning Claps Back at Alberta Secession Leader | The Tyee Jeff Rath claimed Manning and influential allies have tried to silence and subvert the separatist movement.

β€œhe reinforces their preconceived opinion that western secession is mainly being pushed by an ill-informed group of cowboy yahoos.”

Important story here. The UCP's conscious decision to ignore advice and to not promote vaccines is, as forewarned, producing record flu death rates.

No one can predict how the war with Iran will unfold | Rajan Menon and Dan DePetris

The war has already become regional: Iran is attacking American-aligned Arab states in the hope that they will pressure Trump to sign a ceasefire

This is not an isolated incident. There are thousands of such-AI generated sites popping up across the Internet. Some are deliberate torque jobs. Others are just ways of farming ad revenue. All of them lead us, potentially, to a sea of slop.

Is anyone else as confused by this Pentagon statement as I am? We were told that the Israelis and [we] Americans had achieved air superiority over Iran, but *now* we are being told that the Kuwaitis shot down 3 F-15s over Kuwait that were...dogfighting with the Iranian Air Force?

for reference, 73% of americans supported the war in iraq in 2003 β€” two years after 9/11 and two years of the bush administration making the case for it. this will be different, iran's in much worse shape to begin with, but it's starting wildly unpopular and will only get worse with consequences

Is Canada morally leaderless? For anyone born in the 70s or 80s, it is abundantly clear we’re living in the most perilous period of our lifetimes.

When I wrote this, it wasn't just about the government's unwillingness to get off of Elon Musk's Nazi site. Mark Carney's actions never match his rhetoric. His support for another violation of international law is proof: Canada is morally leaderless.

I get why/that people say this, but dont' underestimate this:

all other social networks are invested in making sure that posts that link to journalism remain buried, or at least never go viral.

BlueSky doesn't do that. That makes it very valuable to a ton of newsrooms righ tnow.

Danielle Smith called for the feds to send more people to Alberta.

She invited people from across Canada to come & paid them $5000 each.

Now she wants to blame immigrants for her failure to plan, wild spending & attacks on public services.

But the only one to blame is Danielle Smith. #abpoli

By the Israeli's own admission, recent negotiations were a ruse and there was never interest in a deal. Iran, per Oman, was willing to swear off enriched uranium stockpiling, which is essentially what America wants.

The point of the war is to wage war.
