Every October I try to cover a creature with a spooky/mobster name for Halloween on my site, Prehistoric Beast of the Week. This years is very much overdue. In the meantime who can ID these ones from past years?

Yup. Also note how certain folks purposefully pronounce it antEEfuh to further it from sounding like anti-fascist even more.

I think the skeletals were done by Jason Poole and yeah Yutyrannus is a decent model for the more fragmentary Dryptosayrus. It’s a more completely known similarly sized non-tyrannosaurid tyrannosauroid. It’s not a direct copy though.

After several years of forgetting I FINALLY remembered to bring my own dinosaur stamp for the kids’ Dino park passports. I’ve had this thing since I was like 4. Payoff.

I also always liked how they kept space for local state dinosaurs, like Dryptosayrus and Hadrosaurus.

I appreciate their effort to include feathered dinosaur animatronics with REAL feathers attached. The elements were not kind to them sadly.

Sad to learn that Mark Norell passed away. His work in paleontology had a HUGE influence on me growing up going to the American Museum of Natural History in New York. I consider myself lucky to have gotten to speak with him once at an AMNH holiday party.
