The only way the NBA gets rivalries (even if they end up fleeting most of the time) is with the current East/West playoff setup. Think Bucks/Pacers.
That basically goes away with 1 to 16

Didn't really hit me until yesterday that the Packers impending FA (except Willis/Doubs) are some of the only ones that fit the Gutey mold
i.e. guys coming off their rookie contracts at a position of need

100 AB of Vinny Carpa didn't sabotage the 2025 Brewers.
But that doesn't mean 100 AB of David Hamilton won't do the same to the 2026 Brewers. Cubs are better than they were last year.
Its definitely a gamble to have dealt Collins and Durbin, and one I'm largely fine with. Especially since we basically have to assume the pitching additions all fit their system/algorithm/some of both.
But this is an instance where throwing a few million at say Ramon Urias would help a great deal.
maybe they throw something at Ramon Urias now?
Hamilton/Williams doesn't seem like a particularly great plan to enter the season with.
My son very dissatisfied with the Durbin trade
Brewers should've signed Suarez if this was the plan.
would guess PHX is including cash or that Richards may actually get minutes for them if Bobby injury is serious/he's traded.
Also probably a favor to Anthony. They don't need 6 guards
Cole Anthony joining the Lindsay Hunter/DJ Augustin level of worst Bucks ever

Took my 4-year-old to 5 playoff games this year.
I did not attend my 5th Brewers playoff game until 2023. I was born in 1990.
Worth mentioning that the Brewers DID extend Freddy Peralta once - they got 2 extra years of control when they did.
Different than Burnes in that case - I'd argue the return was stronger largely because his $8 million salary is about half what Burnes was (cough surplus value).
The Brewers had 5 pitchers over the last run that were legitimately elite at one point in time - often for several seasons. 3 of which were SP.
Burnes
Woodruff
Peralta
Hader
D. Williams
For all of that talent, they won two playoff series. And one was against the Rockies.
Yay Brewers get to hang another No. 1 farm system banner.
Can't wait for the parade.
And this is a "good" trade. But that's part of what makes all this so annoying. You aren't beating anyone good in the playoffs with 23 2-WAR players and there's only 9 starting spots.
Brinson?

One or the other, maybe
Certainly not both
that mostly a Beavers thing?

I don't want to in anyway have to give him like 5 years but he'd instantly be their 2nd best player so anything 4 or fewer even if he can opt out would be swell.
Trade Woodruff, Sal, and/or Freddy for prospects/cheap guys if you need to make the money work
I'd be fine with a fake year-to-year deal as well. Need more elite talent on the team.

The #Packers are 0-3 when they don't punt. The rest of the NFL is 11-0 when they have 0 punts this season.
They are the 1st team in the Super Bowl era (and likely NFL history) to lose 3 games in a single season in which they didn't punt.
I guess the argument would be the bats are much better "values" on the FA market this offseason than the SP seem to be.
i.e. Bellinger + Cabrera better than Cassie + Gallen
Assuming of course, they do sign a bat as a follow-up move.
