Not playing modern videogames, but Im curious: Are big-world games (like CRPGs) based on a round or a flat Earth? I.e. Is line of sight restricted by a horizon or by "fog"?

And is the horizon a straight line or is it slightly bent when looking at the open sea?

I would assume that level design is done on flat earths and fog appears where the gpu can’t render more depth.

I have yet to find an arena or poke spot with real people visiting it like me. I mean, who wouldn’t want to trade a Pokémon or geek out? Is it my fault that I am late to the party? I started my Pokémon career mere two days ago. 😂

When you are the only one joining a group raid in Pokémon Go, terribly defeated by an enormous monster with no other trainers at your defense, you are either 7 years late (like my coworker suggests) or the only one playing Pokémon Go in your 1100-people-village.

For all the new ones on Bluesky, @darkpact.bsky.social @joedizzy.bsky.social etc, check your settings and turn the “show reply” switch off. Otherwise you’ll only see discussions with comments that have at least 2 likes. Which makes it hard for new people to be seen and to engage.

I can’t. But the top one is a Button Shy Game I am looking forward to. And the bottom pic has some cute creatures in it. Count me intrigued.

Started playing Pokémon this year. Haha. No one is playing with me and I think it’s already over for me now.

Habe heute zusammen mit Kind, jeweils in unserer Altersklasse, das Ausdauerschwimmen fürs Deutsche Sportabzeichen absolviert. Kind gut in der Zeit mit Bronze und ich nur 2 Sekunden unter Gold. Wir haben es einfach mal probiert. War cool!

If you wonder why we have worked with many long gone but also new found companies, that’s because we distribute and translate games. And we are doing it for the little ones just like for the big ones. Many clients are one-man-Kickstarter-shows. It’s a tough business to survive in.

Ok, so I browsed old Tweets and realized that quite a few of the publishing companies that we have worked with in the past ceased to exist. Pretty much as many as new companies were founded in the same time. It’s constant come and go in our business.

Does anyone remember the card game Entropy by Rule & Make? Does anyone remember Rule & Make who have ceased to exist? Entropy was a fun push your luck / deduction game in the style of Get Bit. The Kickstarter version came with a mini book / novella. I just read that. Like an artifact from old times.

The token and luck factor thing sounds fun. It has Pokémon TCG vibes, where a coin is flipped for some effects.

Hab es bei mir liegen, muss es aber noch ausprobieren. :)

Oops, I wanted to post that in English, thought I was on Mastodon and didn’t notice it was Bluesky. 😆 So yeah, has anyone ever or is anyone (still?) playing Pokémon TCG? I am relatively new to it. Played it a few times and liked it. I am not deep into buying cards though.
