My daughter (smart, above average) and I are debating if these are Kelvin Helmholtz, undulatus, or a series of horseshoe vortex clouds

Full panorama of the 2025 Dickens/Wellfleet LP tornado+supercell!

View is looking ESE up into the mesocyclone. The RFD clear slot is visible in the upper right, and in the distance on the bottom left you can even see a bit of the FFCB. Stationary supercell with deviant westerly tornado. Perfection!

Denver's had more 60Β° days this winter than Myrtle Beach. Yes, you read that right.

60-degree days since Dec. 1:

Denver: 40 (average: 12)
Huntsville, AL: 35 (avg: 32)
Nashville: 31 (avg: 24)
Myrtle Beach, SC: 31 (avg: 40)
Charlotte: 26 (avg: 26)

Bonkers.

Incredible. Another one for the "these idiots always take every word literally" files. They think "climate prediction" means "climate change forecasts".

ASOS gamblers continue the daily onslaught of emails my way, so lets add some gas to the fire. I have created this guy, which generates an audit trail on the daily high and low found in the CLI mesonet.agron.iastate.edu/nws/cli-audit/

Feedback/bugs, all are welcome except lawsuits.

Submission 2.0

Starting on Monday, March 2nd, we will be moving over to a newer, better submission system for your chases. You will be able to select locations based on an interactive map and select a preset list of tags to indicate what you saw on your chase.

One of the dudes told me that he has had luck getting offices to issue updated CLIs when the invalid 1 minute data shows a variance. While I have the data to verify this, do I want to? oye...

Lol.

My favorite part of the "prediction markets" is that we've had a growing number of people get aggressive with our forecasts being slightly off, or calling us to try and influence a temp reading, and it is usually obvious they are betting on some bullshit on these sites.
