I’d like more posts about ways people are using generative AI as a tool and how to use it effectively and fewer posts about how the robots don’t have souls and will steal yours.

watching reporters focus on personal objection to the manner or motivation or timing of Lizza’s story isn’t really helping this at all. I kind of just assume every big reporter with Trump world access has done similar unethical shit that their friends in the business keep quiet about.

I don’t. The reason we won’t be able to keep pace with demand is 100% because Donald Trump decided he hated solar and basically no other reason.

IMO the barrier to people doing that is not lack of understanding; it’s that lots of people just don’t want to.

How can we possibly not draw a line between this unethical reporting and the other unethical reporting we also know about?

big spread on independents. Some are better, many are in dire need of a good editor

The profession just tolerates and rewards quite a lot of this, apparently

Seems basically the same and probably less consequential than every other reporter that sits on important scoops to hawk a book

Nobody is forcing you to talk to Americans; you can always log off.

You can escape judgments by having no money, which also is not very fun

If nothing else, this website has taught me the reputation communists in the US have earned has little to do with economic theory.

Our Thanksgiving tradition for the past few years has been beef tenderloin. I wouldn’t say no to turkey but I’m not about to push it either

How hard is it to attach a real recipe to a fake story?! Shocking really

This dude was posting about how the reason democrats aren’t filing for articles of impeachment is because they know it would result in removal like a day ago.

I think there’s genuinely something wrong with him.

Yeah there is basically zero reason to participate in this. If FBI officers want to talk to members of Congress, the questions ought to go the other direction.

Committee chairs should have more power. Earmarks are good (but abuse for self-enrichment should send you to prison). The filibuster should be eliminated so we don’t have to do all signature legislation through a single omnibus budget bill.

Anyway I am not this way, and it turns out if you do IP-related stuff in LA you will eventually end up working with talent or agencies even if that wasn’t your goal

There’s a specific type of entertainment lawyer that entered the field to be near entertainment and not to practice law that happens to be entertainment. They’d have been talent if they could have.
