I think intent + action that could foreseeably accomplish or substantially accomplish the intent is required. It seems to me like things aren’t quite to that point but also that things are the closest they’ve ever been to that point thus far in the conflict.

You would need the Texas courts to act with speed to affirmatively (and unlawfully) remove democratic legislators from office who have very much *not abandoned* their offices. Hard to see that happening. I suppose he could start trying to remove them via courts and then maybe call another session?

The opinion in question isn’t actually that helpful to him. It suggests a judicial procedure for a fact-specific determination that is almost certainly not going to be adjudicated in the next 30 days.

This, if he tries to do it, is an actual factual coup.

If someone does that to me, I want it to say things like “remember, it’s really me in here the same as if I’d never died,” and “don’t kill me again! No!” and “looks like those clowns in congress did it again. What a bunch of clowns!”
