That is not to say that any piece of trivia with that tag is untrustworthy! This simply makes it more transparent to see if it's unknown where the information within the trivia originates from, as a lot of it comes from the defunct Pizza Tower Discord and not archived Twitch streams.

This has been planned for a while, but we have finally got around to add the "Citation Needed" template!
This will be used for any piece of trivia, that does not have a source, and is primarily spread through word of mouth.

Thing of the week 1: Entrance Glance (Reupload)
YouTube video by Pizza Tower Thing of the week 1: Entrance Glance (Reupload)

It was first teased in Thing of the week 1 youtu.be/pHEUBoawlm0, however it would not be added into the game proper until four months later.
It was likely one of the experiments with the regular power ups, similarly to the Pepper Pizza one.

In Western Build, a Pizza Shield power up was added into the game. It could be found in some secret rooms, and it would prevent the player from losing points after getting hit once.
These would stay in the game for a while, before getting cut entirely with the rework of the Secret Rooms.

This was likely done to avoid potential legal problems with selling merchandise of a character, not owned by Tour de Pizza.

Fangamer's "Pizza Tower for Nintendo Switchβ„’ Collector's Edition" comes with a set of 10 art cards, that have every level's titlecard printed on both sides. However, one for Fun Farm is missing, which was replaced with the P-Rank screen. Mort was also edited out of CTOP's titlecard.

Comparison between the old and the new Gerome sprites, the only difference is one of the keys being grey, when it's meant to be dark yellow.

In April 2021 Build, for exactly one frame, one of Gerome's keys was the wrong color. This was fixed in the final release.

A comparison between the shade of yellow used in Pizza Time Pizzaface sprite and the Flush card sprite.

These animations were done before Pizzaface's idle animation was redrawn, which is likely why the shade of yellow is different.
Interestingly enough, despite both animations being introduced in Eggplant build, the Flush cards uses the correct shade of yellow.

A comparison between the shade of yellow in the initial Pizzaface sprite and Pizza Time Pizzaface sprite, and the current Pizzaface sprite.

Initially, Pizzaface used a slightly different, more bright shade of yellow, along with extra shading used. This got carried over onto the Pizza Time Pizzaface animations, where the same shade of yellow is used. Everywhere else, Pizzaface uses a different, more common shade of yellow.

Introduced in LetsGoToSAGE v3, Ancient Cheese and Bloodsauce Dungeon featured falling debris, which would activate during Pizza Time and act as additional obstacles.
They were removed in SAGE 2019 Demo v13b.

Exclusively in Noise's Hardoween, the left trigger on the controller makes The Noise dab. The dab is analog, meaning that the player can control how the animation is played.
It is a reference to Yo! Noid II: Enter the Void, where Noid also had an analog dab animation.

This game mode only appears in Peppino's Xmas Break, later brought back in Boss v0, before getting scrapped entirely.

Peppino, standing next to the entrance to Entrance, an earlier variant of John Gutter, with two signs, one showing the rank received on the normal playthrough, and one, colored red, showing a rank received on the Time Attack mode.

Besides a glitch right at the start of the level, where not all objects that give points are removed, there is no way to increase score, only lose it.
Once the player has finished a stage, a second sign, colored red, appears next to the entrance to the level, showing the rank they received.

Very briefly, Pizza Tower featured a Time Attack mode, which could be activated after collecting a clock at the start of the level. It would set the player's score at around 12,000 points and requires to finish the level while the score slowly decreases.

One of the original ideas for the 4th boss in the game was a single bee. The whole idea behind the fight was to get the Bee to touch the toxic gas from a Raid can 8 times.
The fight is still accessible via debug console and the "player_room boss_bee A" command

Fake Peppino's animations were slightly changed during the release version of the game. The arm shade was replaced with a simpler one under the shirt, there's less shine spots on the face, and the tongue was made a different color, which was originally cheesy yellow.

One of short-lived ideas for the game was a day/night cycle, where the background would change its colors. It is unknown if the way it was implemented in the video was meant to be the intended final result. It's still accessible in the files of the Desert build.

Weenie enemy, as confirmed by McPig on Tumblr, was based on Peter from Weenie Cop, one of the previous game concepts that was worked on.

Around 2021, McPig gave a funeral to the Pizzice enemy on one of his streams, as it wasn't going to be used. Later, however, McPig reused the behaviour for the Pizzice enemy for the new Snowman one, eventually reusing the sprites for Pizzice, giving it its current behaviour.

Pizza Tower was initially meant to have a Kickstarter campaign, rather than a Patreon page. This never went through, however.

Pepper Pizza transformation initially had an entirely different effect. It would have been a power up, that would make the player run at mach 4 instantly for about 15 seconds. It was never actually used for a single level and was only showcased in the first Thing of the Week youtube video

However, the shadow under the letter C is missing, but only for the new frames, so due to this, that specific spot constantly flickers in the game, as it's only present for a single frame. (3/3)

It's especially noticeable with the arms only having shading next to the sleeve. Interestingly enough, the shading between fingers is just not filled in, leaving gaps in the sprite.
Secondly, the text did in fact receive two extra boil frames, with the original variant intact. (2/3)

There are actually quite a few notable differences between the original "YOU SUCK!" image, compared to the one used in the game. Firstly, rather than using the original one and then adding two more boil frames, it was redrawn entirely, with cleaner outlines.

The Steam page for the game showcases a fight with Pepperman, which actually depicts some pre-release footage. The bosses would always have 8 HP shown, with extra ones placed on top of them, which use a different color. This was likely scrapped as it would have spoiled the Phase 2.
