Another great #IPES conference. It’s always great to see old friends and meet new ones. It’s even better when you get to go running with them.

I ran the Berkeley Trail adventure half marathon today. I placed 10th overall and 2nd in my age group. I was a fun race and I’m really pleased with how I ran it and how my body performed.

Been chatting with folks who've lost their jobs and several said it would be nice to learn about how to get into consulting work. So I said I could put something together on that! Webinar next Thursday at 1pm eastern. (Thanks AEFP, APPAM, NCME, & SREE!)

Philanthropic organizations after universities? Again if you have paid attention to Russia and Hungary a decade ago, you should expect this to happen soon.

Opinion | Trump is killing one of our strongest exports The president wants to balance U.S. trade deficits? He can’t do it without this industry he hates.

Now there's a memorable stat!

"Colleges and universities are among America’s most competitive international exporters. In dollar terms, last year, the United States sold more educational services to the rest of the world than it sold in natural gas and coal combined."

Lastly, I'm planning an additional study to test the long-term effects (applications to grad school, admission offers, enrollment, etc). The future study will allow me to base the analysis just on the lottery, which was not possible since the pre-PIPS survey was anonymous.

Anecdotally, I can say that almost every student offered a spot through the random lottery enrolled in the course. I recall one student declining the spot because they were offered another opportunity, but that's the only case I remember.

25.03.2025 22:27 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Hi Alex. Since the surveys were conducted completely anonymously, I can compare the pre-treatment (no PIPS) survey to post-treatment survey (PIPS, for those who were offered a spot and completed). Only two students started PIPS and did not complete the program (Fig 1 of appendix for more details).
