Criterion actually does a pretty good job of capturing a lot of recent films — it's also adding del Toro's Frankenstein and Killers of the Flower Moon soon

I had about two seconds of "is KPop Demon Hunters really Criterion worthy" before I got over it. There are Godzilla films in there, after all

The craziest part is that Sony owns Alamo and Scarlet is a Sony Pictures Classics release

Sony has been pushing its products hard at Alamo for the past year, but Scarlet got dumped

I'm baffled that Alamo was showing trailers for Scarlet months ago and then for the past two months there was a giant two story video ad at CityPoint mall here in Brooklyn

And then when it came out, the movie wasn't even playing at the Brooklyn Alamo and had exactly two midday showings in Manhattan

Scarlet was not the cinematic war crime some folks have made it out to be. The story is a little weak and the animation is alllllllll over the place but it's still an enjoyable little piece.

My real question is who did Mamoru Hosoda piss off that this got shelved as much as it has been
