My exuse is that I don’t watch anything while on summer holidays.

I had a similar experience watching the Ken Burns series about country music (and I don’t like country music).

An illustration of Thranduil from The One Ring First Edition. This illustration didn’t make the corebook. It replaced a rejected piece of art by another artist, and was used in “Words of the Wise”, a free scenario by Dominic McDowall for the game. After that had to go away for contractual reasons, the art reappeared in… Heart of the Wild? Darkening of Mirkwood? Those two titles began as one book, so I don’t always know the split.

I’m late for the anniversary of its release at GenCon 2011, but to celebrate that ancient release of The One Ring First Edition: one like = one illustration from TOR 1st ed, which I helped illustrate, art direct, write and creatively direct. Good times. Here’s Thranduil with whom I was happy.

But no bull licking so far, I need to catch up in that department.

Warhammer Empire halberdiers made up of Halflings, Dwarfs, Ogres and humans

That description matches most of my Empire units.

Agreed. If there’s Clan themed boyz, then they need their proper lodgings.

The rusty shack variant has its charm as well, but can only ever play second fiddle to the mighty adobe.

I sneaked some of those into my own halberdier regiment and they fit perfectly.

I still love that classic style of Ork adobe buildings.

Interesting weekend, mostly really nice. I managed to get these halberdiers done. The flag is printed and then painted and detailled by hand to make it look nice. Slogan is (I hope) "Lick the Bull!" in latin, because it seemed like something soldiers would choose as a war cry based on the design.

Weiß Gott wie ins Detail geht’s nicht, aber kein schlechter Überblick.

Ich hab immerhin vor Jahren mal ein Buch über den Aufstand von 1809 gelesen. Passenderweise auf einer Hütte oberhalb von Lienz.

I‘m in the process of building a White Scars force as a side project.

I think it was reused in principle, and than made much more complicated on top.

I plan on giving it a spin once I’ve got enough of the current Epic stuff ready. Never played it, but I loved the late nineties Epic 40K, so I’m quite sure I’ll like that one too.

There is (as is custom) a fitting German word: Seehund

A sound strategy for many things.

I think the roofs and bases were plastic, the rest was cardboard. But it was a long, long time ago.

Somehow I remember enjoying Hotel as a youngster. Probably because of the pretty buildings.

In the WFRP 4th edition adventure If Looks Could Kill Fimir are strongly hinted at as builders and previous occupants of a site near a swamp. The PDF is even freely available if I’m not mistaken.
