Y'all, I love an aboriton victory as much as the next person, but please look at the facts, and realize that the very, very few abortion funds who are working with almost no resources and generally on volunteer labor are not helped by this false narrative that abortion is Europe is now sorted.

❌ Provide legal protection for people who self manage abortion with pills rather than travel to reach clinics

Also there's a massive belly on this person, when we know more than 90% of all abortions take place prior to week 12, when most people aren't yet showing. #EndPreggoBelly

❌ Cover costs of travel and accommodation for people forced to travel within or outside their countries

❌ Make more countries provide abortion beyond the first trimester. Currently in Europe, there are SIX of those countries, and one is England, not part of the EU so not part of this fund.

But what the fund CAN'T do is:

❌ Make more doctors provide abortions (refusing care is the main obstacle to abortion in Europe)

❌ Make abortion legal or more accessible in ANY country (other than by possibly paying for abortions for whoever meets the criteris of whatever fund is created)

Countries will then have to opt in AND provide funding for it to happen. The fund doesn't exist yet, so we don't know what it will cover, for whom, or how easy or hard it will be to access. (Have you ever tried to access EU funding???)

YES there was a historic EU Parliament vote led by My Voice My Choice. This vote will NOT make abortion available in all EU countries but paves the way for ANOTHER vote at EU Commission level. If that vote goes through, the PROCESS of making an EU wide fund to cover costs of abortions will happen.

Monaco is the perfect example capitulating to the anti abortion minority. Prince Albert used a rarely employed mechanism to block abortion legalization/reduction in the age of consent despite a parlimentary majority.
