It’s another fun-loving comedy with a big beating heart, a charming and thoughtful look at three different coming-of-age phases in life and what one can learn about themself and others by walking in another’s shoes.

This is a four-person body swap movie so, yes, Freakier Friday can feel a bit messy/manic, but never to the point of losing my footing or impacting the entertainment value of the film.

The concept also thrives thanks to an exceptional ensemble. Body swap movies demand fearless performances, and Curtis and Lohan deliver big in that department, and Julia Butters and Sophia Hammons meet them at their level.

In fact, I think Freakier Friday is a prime example of how, in some cases, a long wait between installments can serve a film exceptionally well. Between how Tess & Anna have grown and the addition of Harper & Lily, there’s SO many new themes and ideas to explore.

FREAKIER FRIDAY is DELIGHTFUL. I had full faith in Jamie Lee Curtis, Lindsay Lohan & co., but I don’t think I realized how much I needed another movie like this. Director Nisha Ganatra & the writers do a wonderful job playing into nostalgia while adding new layers via another generation.

ALIEN: EARTH COLLIDER FORCES: Many cool things about this one — psyched to talk Alien: Earth + LOVE how Alex Lawther & Samuel Blenkin talk about their craft (perfect for Forces) + FX’s podcast studio. High quality recording & the staff was the best. Fingers crossed they bring this back next year!

7. TIFFANY SMITH: One of my absolute favorite parts of my job is getting the opportunity to put the spotlight on friends doing incredible things - and Tiffany’s got many of em!

6. OUTLANDER: BLOOD OF MY BLOOD: Been way too long since I’ve ventured into the Outlander realm. Hyped to finally get to return to it via Blood of My Blood! Looking forward to sharing this interview, but especially excited for you to see this top-tier ensemble in action starting 8/8.

5. VIOLET & MADELEINE MCGRAW: Even more favorites in the Collider Interview Studio! Not only are Violet and Madeleine dominating the horror genre, but they’re emerging as major forces in film well beyond it. Cannot wait to see these two soar even higher!

4. THE LONG WALK: One of my favorite King novels! Forever rooting for JT, was thrilled to finally get to chat with Roy Lee, and what a joy meeting Garrett Wareing & Tut Nyuot. Without a doubt one of my most anticipiated movies this year.

3. GHOSTS: I blab about this often but it’s worth repeating - Ghosts is one of my favorite shows on TV right now and it features one of my all-time favorite ensembles. Crossing paths with this group is always one of my favorite things about Comic-Con.

2. TALAMASCA: THE SECRET ORDER: What a treat to get to chat with even more of the Immortal Universe family. Endlessly fascinated by the Talamasca, so quite excited that they’re expanding via this route.

SDCC INTERVIEWS DAY 3

1. THE VAMPIRE LESTAT: Cannot overstate how much I love talking to this team. Every ounce of this show is handled with great care and is brimming with complexity - that combo always makes these conversations the most fulfilling every SDCC.

Plus some escape room-style fun in the tail end AND fun and games after.

More haunts/activations like this, please and thank you! 🤡

I’m not an easy scare with haunts - somewhat because they’re often packed with a steady stream of people going through at once. The way this was designed though? Genius. Our whole group got separated going down different paths of the cornfield maze, making it SUPER immersive.

Shudder and AMC+ absolutely crushed it with their Clown in a Cornfield activation - by far my favorite of #SDCC 2025.

3. VIOLENT ENDS & FORBIDDEN FRUITS: Was quite pumped to dig into Violent Ends and Forbidden Fruits, but a big takeaway from this interview (and our Collider Ladies Night After Dark panel) is that this biz needs more people like Alexandra Shipp. Wildly talented + an infectious energy and positivity.
