So glad the #CROSS Season 1 interview landed in my lap last #NYCC. Wound up being one of my favorite interviews, and now the same is true of this year’s NYCC. Adore this group and cannot wait for Season 2 to kick off on Feb 11!

They’ve got something special brewing here. Cannot wait for It: Welcome to Derry to kick off on October 26 on HBO and HBO Max. And until then, I’ll just keep sitting here and thinking about what a joy and honor it was to be on this stage with them. 🤡

… but then I was lucky enough to get to chat with the team behind the show on the Empire Stage at NYCC. We screened some killer clips, but my personal favorite part of the panel was undoubtedly hearing the cast and crew talk about making it with such an infectious enthusiasm and passion.

IT is my favorite Stephen King novel. I’ve been pumped for Welcome to Derry since the day it was announced.

In Andy and Barbara Muschietti I trust. I always have sky-high hopes for anything they touch.

You’d think my excitement for It: Welcome to Derry couldn’t soar much higher …

I am obsessed with this show. I am obsessed with this team. I am obsessed with their fandom.

Not that this surprised me one bit, but those were some next-level good vibes at Main Stage for the #HazbinHotel panel yesterday!

Cannot thank Edgar Wright, Glen Powell, Lee Pace and all of team Paramount enough for having me moderate #TheRunningMan panel today on the Empire Stage!

(And can’t wait to return for more tomorrow with It: Welcome to Derry. 🤡)

Not only did that dream come true today, but it came true via a Stephen King adaptation directed by one of my favorite filmmakers. AND my mom was in the audience to watch it all happen.

This was a special one.

My first convention ever was #NYCC. Will never forget how quickly I became obsessed with the vibe, and also the spark of the dream to host a panel on the convention’s biggest stage one day.

Just sitting here prepping for an #AlienEarth interview, thinking about how much I love the Eye Midge.

It’s the complete young adult horror package with a winning nostalgic feel to it. No doubt I’ll be thrilled to watch and rewatch this one.

… and then Ali Skovbye, Jhaleil Swaby, and Sky Yang swoop in to round out the supporting ensemble with distinct personalities you’re quick to get invested in and care about.

The relationship between her character and Sophie Nélisse’s proves to be a powerful beating heart for the film …

Dafne Keen is a phenomenal anchor, expertly shouldering the past trauma that’s come to define how her character operates.

The success of this horror storytelling format is also heavily dependent on assembling a top-tier ensemble, and Hardy and his casting team soar in that department.

… — the movie plays with this to great effect. It keeps all the kills fresh and, in turn, keeps you on your toes from start to finish.

That right there means ENDLESS creative possibilities for set pieces, and director Corin Hardy and writer Owen Egerton really make the most of it. Perhaps someone dies when they’re older, or maybe their death is right around the corner …

… - especially when that thing is as clever and effective as the core concept of Whistle.

It’s an ancient death whistle and when you blow it, anyone who hears it will be hunted by their own future death.

#WHISTLE is SO my kind of horror movie. Of course I love a wide variety of stories within the genre, but there’s just something about seeing a group of friends cross paths with the wrong person/thing and then fall prey to it one by one that often works very well for me …

One of the Fantastic Fest interviews I was most looking forward to.

BEYOND thrilled for CHRIS STUCKMANN and the #ShelbyOaks team for all the success since their Fantasia premiere in 2024 … and it’s bound to continue with the movie’s release on Oct 24.

I am overjoyed to have such a stellar original horror film to celebrate. Good on Focus Features for identifying an indie gem with loads of rising talent in the mix. I have very high hopes their faith in this one is going to pay off.

One last cast shout out to Cooper Tomlinson and Megan Lawless who nail their supporting roles, bolstering the group dynamic in a way that adds even more meaty layers to this scenario.

Johnston’s work makes all of that feel present and active throughout much of the movie, and that very effectively and naturally challenges you to wonder what you might do in such a situation.

Michael Johnston also delivers an A+ performance as the lead. Bear’s a sweet and super sensitive guy. You want him to find his person and don’t want anything bad to happen to him, but what he does is awful and one of the most brilliant aspects of Obsession is that the movie holds him accountable.

Perhaps an odd word to apply to a film that gets quite dark, violent, and bloody, but I was elated watching her play and knock every single big swing she’s challenged with out of the park. Just absolutely floored by her work here.

Every aspect of this production poses a challenge, but the success of Obsession is so heavily dependent on Navarrette nailing what happens to Nikki after the wish is made. She’s being pulled in so many directions - physically and internally.
