"Debate is bad" is a highly useful position for authoritarians. "Much of what gets described as 'debate' in contemporary US society is bad" is a much better position. Democracy w/o debate is impossible. Solidarity w/o debate is fragile & subject to groupthink. Exchange reasons! Deliberate w/ others!

"Debate resolves nothing in society and never has" is an argument, & you haven't supported it with any grounding or warrants. You are debating, but you do not want to call what you are doing debate. Advocacy in a democracy requires the exchange of public reason between citizens. Why is that bad?

What is the difference between advocacy and debate? When you endorse advocacy, what do suggest one ought to do (as an advocate) when someone else advocates something else/something you disagree with? How does democracy resolve disagreements between citizens?

What is your proposed alternative method of resolving disagreements between members of a society? How do you propose that ideas become so “good” that they may not be debated? What happens if you are wrong?

I think he’s trying to improve his ability to go back on balls, but he’s still struggling with it. In the process, it seems to be getting in his head, and he’s hesitating more on balls in front of him. Would be interested to hear his perspective.

I’m suspicious he’s tipping. Might be something with the angle of his throwing wrist in the glove when he sets; on curveballs, it’s more bowed. Unclear if hitters could identify that, but it seemed like the Cards were slyly talking about something in the dugout after the last home run.

Wisconsin playing football against Alabama is what I imagine it’d look like if Miz pitched against the Racine Hitters. He might lose his command & walk a few guys; maybe a ball in play or two will fall in for a hit. But mostly he’d strike everyone out & we’d all laugh at how dominant he was. Yikes.
