Tillis: You decided to kill that dog because you had not invested the appropriate time in training it, and then you have the audacity to say it’s a leadership lesson. You killed a goat and said it was behaving badly. You’re a farmer β€” you don’t castrate a goat, they behave badly.

Just thinking about the County Clerks who are largely Republican (fewer voters, but in rural and smaller counties) will go apeshit over this. They aren't geared up for this and it will require wholesale changes in their processes and they generally don't have large staffs.

NSF officials break silence on how AI and quantum now drive agency grantmaking Leaders acknowledge White House role in controversial moves

The National Science Foundation is systematically being converted to the National AI and Quantum Research Foundation.

β€œI see it as the administration exerting political control over what has traditionally been NSF’s ability to fund the best science.”

Don't congratulate John Roberts or the Supreme Court.

Congratulate Rick Woldenberg, the Chicago-area leader of Learning Resources, an educadtional toy company that had the courage to sue the president of the United States to save his family business.

As well as everyone else who stepped up.

Irish man held in ICE detention says he fears for his life and asks Ireland for help Seamus Culleton describes conditions as β€˜torture’ as he pleads with taoiseach to raise his case with Donald Trump

An Irish man held by ICE for five months despite having a valid work permit and no criminal record says he fears for his life and has appealed for help from Ireland’s government.

Don't Be a Sucker
YouTube video by US National Archives Don't Be a Sucker

In 1947 the US War Department released β€œDon’t Be a Sucker,” now archived by the National Archives. It shows how fascism grows through fear lies and scapegoating. This should not be history. It is a reminder our government once wanted remembered.

Just had a Super Bowl halftime where the singer:
1) boasts about the poor place he’s from;
2) boosts the value of agriculture;
3) celebrates small town life;
4) highlights the joy of inter-generational celebrations; and
5) promotes marriage.

And tomorrow, the MAGA movement will attack it.

Big picture: Unemployment is up half a point over the past year, suggesting that we're falling behind. Not a panic button, but definitely a warning light. Add in falling vacancies, spiking initial claims, and falling quits, and the dashboard is lit like a Christmas tree.

Trump is spending over a billion dollars to tear down, build and/or remodel the WH, a ballroom, a triumphal arch, the Kennedy Center, and several DC golf courses, while spending most of his non-golfing time on interior decorating.
