The album that changed my life is 39 years old today! Writing my book “U2’s The Joshua Tree: Planting Roots in Mythic America” in 2021 was a way for me to share the idea that a brighter world for all of us is still possible.

Your book looks interesting. Zappa always enjoyed.....engaging w/those who he felt ran afoul of the decency they loved to profess & claimed to defend.

And, much more often than not, my recollection is that he typically was the one bringing the critical gun to their hypocritical knife-fights!

I don’t think I would really consider them concept albums, but there are strong themes that find throughout tracks. The opening chapter of my book covers these areas as a cursory overview.

Zappa ran for President once. Especially after reading @bradleymorgan.bsky.social 's book I am convinced that he would have made a terrific President - he had a good grasp of the social dynamics in American politics and society.

Friday night jam is #zappa 200 Motels, and odd conglomerate of orchestral, comedy, and jams with the Mothers>Flo & Eddie band. Interesting transitional period which will make good background sounds as I work on @bradleymorgan.bsky.social book

I’m not sure I would label Zappa’s later work any more or less problematic than his earlier years.
