That’s my tip for authors who find it a little intimidating is to just do keyword searches and like stuff.

I never had great luck with Twitter. When I joined bsky in Nov, I started just liking any post that mentioned Zappa to build up that follower base. In less than a year, I’ve more than tripled the number of followers I had on Twitter. I don’t engage or comment much in general, so doing this helped.

This actually isn’t true. It’s a myth. Gail spoke in a PMRC oral history that some people assumed it should’ve had a sticker because it was a Zappa album. Plus, I’ve never seen a copy of that album with a sticker.

I’ve got just the book for you! Zappa actually championed the rights of marginalized groups though his music as effort to fight against white Christian nationalism. Most comments about what Zappa would be like today are projections. The man has been dead for 30 years.

Basically, based on what I saw in “Shoah,” which featured interviews 30-40 years after the Holocaust, people will still find ways to rationalize their complicity.

I read it, and found it very compelling, but while reading it I also decided to watch “Shoah” for the first time since both document atrocities and address the issue of historical and cultural revisionism. That juxtaposition really left me doubting that concept presented in the book’s title.
