What to do when you are engulfed in flames. It sure sucks! πŸ§ͺ 🩺 But, the stellar writers at @nature.com have compiled the help available.

i love living in such a beautiful place and i’m endlessly grateful for the opportunities i have. the more i see and love this world around me i can’t help but feel the weight of collective grief bear down even harder. how could anyone look at environment and think it’s worthless and expendable

Big news!

Our latest paper, β€œManufacture and use of allogrooming tools by wild killer whales” has been published in β€œCurrent Biology”.

This is the first known evidence of a marine mammal making tools out of objects in their environment.

not an expert on humpback migration by any means but changing oceanographic conditions could cause changes in arrival times as well

agreed with the other reply, not uncommon! likely depends on the prey type they're feeding on or energetic demands of the mother. humpback whale distribution is driven by spatial and seasonal foraging opportunities; their distribution may reflect forage fish runs and zooplankton abundance.

today marks my second full week with my new kitty, he is still very shy and likes to hide but he's eating plenty, using his letterbox and spending time exploring my room at night. Im trying so hard to be patient with him, but oh man I cant wait to be able to pet him once hes comfortable

Next up for Minke May: Where do we see minkes in the Salish Sea?

A 2024 study compiled sightings from 1976-2019 to show minkes are often spotted near shallow banks. These banks promote upwelling, bringing nutrient-rich water to the surface.

I just read this over again, and I can't say thank you enough for writing this. I have ADHD and I'm a Marine Biology major and I relate so much to many of the experiences you've discussed. Great work!
