I really really loved 1 by the end of it, so I think my opinion was definitely affected by people telling me how much better 2 was gonna be when I just didn't see it.

DR1’s setting and build up make the reveals at the end more satisfying because it naturally felt like everything was leading up to it. DR2 throws a lot of bullshit at you early and then expects you to accept it because of the end reveal. That doesn’t suddenly make all the bullshit enjoyable!

The only thing I know about the V3 is the twist itself and considering how much I got annoyed by 2’s antics, I think it’s gonna help me enjoy it way more. At least I hope.

I made sure to watch all the hangout events for the cast of DR1 and DR2 and I definitely walked out thinking the cast of DR2 had a lot of missed potential. So many characters had genuinely sentimental character moments (like Nekomaru and Mikan) but got reduced to gags in the plot, it's so sad.

Your tolerance for stupid bullshit is much higher than mine, I respect it. I just don't think the ends justify the means for this game. The cast of characters is very strong but you really don't get to see them shine in the main story besides Fuyuhiko.

DR1 had those moments but it was like 1 line every so often and I could brush past it since the pacing was much better, but the jokes REALLY dragged in DR2 and the pacing was much worse.

I honestly just felt like it treaded on the first game toes too much and missed the point of not knowing what the world was actually like at the end.

I truly did really love DR1 by the end of it. It just felt like DR2 had no fucking restraint and was paced so much worse that I was more fed up with the game by the ending so that entire sequence really didn't do anything for me at all. Maybe if things more naturally lead into it I'd like it more.

Take what you didn't like about 1 (I assume) and amplify it by 100 times and that is what you get in 2, in my opinion.

1 was so much better, praying V3 can dial things back.
