Freeing the hostages ON BOTH SIDES. Including 7500 Palestinians Israel has just been throwing in jail nonstop like no one would notice.

Jesus God, do I want this ceasefire to hold. Not just so Gaza gets some peace, so those people can sleep at night, but selfishly because it’s been too long and my heart misses Palestine.

It’s so extremely Southern that Dolly basically got put on a prayer list and days later had to do an β€œI’m not dead yet!” to let the international news know that she was not on death’s door

I may have to borrow the chant in Chicago for later dates

Love your neighbor love your God
Save your soul and quit your job

Life of a Showgirl is also a fairly apt metaphor of life as a girl priest, tbh. (Thing I discovered blasting the album while driving to supply at 7am on a Sunday)

Most excellent stage of parenting unlocked where my kid asks me to play a song at random, discovers he likes it, then I free associate music at him for him to also enjoy.

I am cautiously hopeful that we’re now past this particular battle in the unending Insurance Wars, but who can say. Next time probably I’ll have to cite the old magic of Aslan while standing on my head and shaking fists of dollars at the pharmacist in order to access basic healthcare.

Also, no private insurance coverage associated w the refill, bc it’s the old name. (As an asideβ€”PEOPLE CHANGE NAMES ALL THE TIME. WHY IS THIS SO HARD?!?) By now I know the routine. Check old & new name! Run refill! I’ll pay w coupon! I’ll stand here and watch while you do it! etc!

Fine. We will return to the field anon.
Today, we attempt battle again. Again, I send in my spouse. This time, he just leaves me on speaker phone the whole time. (He has not the decades of war with the forces of insurance nonsense that I have.) Last pharmacist never filled the second med.

07.10.2025 20:42 β€” πŸ‘ 2    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 2    πŸ“Œ 0

We pay cash w a coupon bc life is short, this is dumb, and also where is the second med? Pharmacist says he has no record of that either. App shows it was filled, then cancelled. So I can’t do anything bc the refills disappeared. Pharmacist says he still sees a refill and β€œcan fill in 20 min”.

07.10.2025 20:40 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

I send my spouse to retrieve the meds. He calls me from the drive thru: they claim they have no such med. We argue for a few moments. I talk to the pharmacist. Pharmacist claims confusion until he thinks to look under kid’s old name. But then insurance won’t cover. What is life.

07.10.2025 20:39 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 2    πŸ“Œ 0

App then wants the insurance card for my kid. Ok, I have his one, but it’s unclear if it includes his ExpressScripts number and they don’t give us cards anymore. I send both for safety. One med is marked as filled! Yay!

07.10.2025 20:37 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

This time, I am foolishly hopeful. We have refills left on both meds! They are v boring meds! We have ironed out the insurance thing (at least in a workable way.)! I tell the app to refill the meds.

We write to you from week 3(?) of Fighting with Everyone to Get My Kid’s Medicine. Last time, it took a week to get the pharmacy, insurance, several pharmacists, and doctor to wade thru the bureaucracy.

I’m a priest. Here’s why you should reject Peter Thiel’s Antichrist talk The cynicism of the billionaire venture capitalist stands in deep contrast to the true values of Jesus.

I say it all the time, but imma say it again: a lot of very book smart people lack the emotional education and communication skills that would allow them to generate the courage they want to embody in their work. They are incurious about their own emotional lives, and consequently, those of others.

I bet some of you recognize the same behavior in your parents during your childhood and beyond. Once again, they don’t think it’s right. But it’s familiar. Most people are trained from birth to prefer familiarity or comfortability over moral correctness.

….isnt the use of a piscina just a routinized way to return the wine to the ground without having to go outside? This feels like hair splitting.

So TLOAS is about the emotional distance required to take everything in your life and turn it into art, and what that costs in terms of maintaining a grasp on your own authenticity, right? She’s not saying β€œugh, being rich and famous is hard.”

It’s also cool because they’re gutting their liberal arts programs, including African American and Middle Eastern studies programs at the same time.

And I suppose it is worth noting my parents and teachers had to intervene with the school board to get me there because I wasn’t scoring well enough on the single standardized test. So it’s not a great system, is my point. But the alternative, for some kids, is nightmarish.

Being moved to a full day gifted and talented program literally saved my mental health at 10 years old. I was a very miserable kid prior to that. For some kids, they are great, even though the screening and implementation are often awful.
