In the top is a ballot with an X next to Joanne Clements, the Green Party candidate. Inside the box with her description is #ElectTheDolls.

A quote from the candidate: "I love Shirley, it has been my home for many decades. Please vote for me on 26 February, vote Green, and vote for a better Shirley and Southampton for all."

Telegraph article.

"Another motion put forward for consideration at the party’s spring conference would end all blanket bans on transgender athletes in women’s sport.

The motion was tabled by Melissa Harker, a press officer for the LGBTIQA+ Greens pressure group."

It then has a photo of me with the caption: "Melissa Harker, a Green trans campaigner, is calling for an end to the transgender bans in women’s sport"

It goes on:

"Ms Harker’s policy proposal warned that blanket bans have β€œserious consequences for gender-diverse and global majority [of African, Asian, Latin American and Arab descent] peoples’ mental and physical health”.

It went on to claim that β€œhistorical colonial and Eurocentric attitudes” have long affected elite sports and continued to have an impact.

If passed, the motion would be required to call on all sporting bodies to allow trans athletes to compete, working towards a long-term ambition to β€œundo the toxic environment around trans, intersex and gender non-conforming people in sport”."

Statement Title: On the High Court ruling and DfE guidance.
Statement Text: As an (outgoing) committee, we are looking through the High Court ruling and Department for Education guidance that have been published hours after each other.

The gist we get from the DfE guidance does not paint a great picture for trans youth who wish to socially transition, this is regardless of if their parents are suportive of them or not.

Add onto this, that once trans youth do escape from the hell on earth that will be school for them, the High Court ruling will make it such that they can't use the toilets that match their gender in the workplace.

Guidance such as this will cause irreparable harm to trans people who just want to live comfortably. This guidance will cause trans people, which are already feeling incredibly embattled, to lose faith.

We are currently writing motions to our Spring Conference, and we are having conversations internally about the best way forwards to fight it.

Social media is certainly bad for children and young people, but we must remember that Brianna was murdered, in the context of anti-trans rhetoric and hate coming from many, incl. printing presses. This move to brand social media as the issue allows politicians & papers to cleanse their incitement.

Employment tribunals happen all the time in the UK, but apparently the only ones that can, or should, get front page news with the BBC are those that involve trans women... because they're still trying to manufacture consent for our removal from public life.

Defund the BBC.

We voted to indefinitely suspend use of X.

It is pointless to campaign for trans and queer liberation on a website where the only way to be heard is to open yourself to harassment.

The photo on this cover image is of a phone with the X app open on it, on a table. The photo credit goes to Matias Mango under a license from Pexels.

Trans Greens' and LGBTIQA+ Greens have voted to indefinitely suspend their use of X/Twitter. Some of our reasons include:

Cross-posting content from our other social media accounts is inhibited by language policing unique to X/Twitter's version of "free speech", for example being flagged by the site for using words such as "cis" (a scientific term to refer to people who aren't trans).

Algorithmic biases, which encourage us to be needlessly controversial to be seen, and which disproportionately benefit right-wing narratives, which results in an experience that is hostile to the mental health of our volunteers and can result in burnout for those involved.

Deeply problematic changes to Grok: many news agencies have reported that people are using Grok to sexually harass women and girls by undressing them using AI. xAI paywalling features to generate deepfakes instead of removing the ability to create them is not an acceptable response to sexual abuse.

There is a concern that any media of our members (especially committee members) will be used to harass them.

On a white background with a pink cross in the middle you see a statement. The statement is as follows:

Conversion practises are abuse. They must be banned. A recent BBC documentary has been released - "Shock Therapy", which documents the abuse by the NHS of LGBTIQA+ youth back in the '60s and '70s.

The series reveals that shock "therapy" was used against LGBTIQA+ people in the 1960s and 1970s as a way to try and "cure" people of their sexual orientation or gender identity. At least 250 people were subject to this treatment in 1974 alone.

It was reported at the time that those who are now survivors of conversion practises took part of their own accord, but survivors and historians are now questioning whether genuine consent was ever given. Many have said that the consent sought would not stand up to modern ethical standards surrounding medical consent and treatment.

The government must issue a formal apology to those who experienced this awful treatment, while there are still survivors around to hear that apology.

In 2025, people are still subjected to conversion practises. Some operate under the guise of religion or culture, while some still remain deeply ingrained within the NHS. The services replacing GIDS pathologize trans youth and impose barriers to care, which are conversion practises in all but name.

For a decade, governments have promised to end conversion practises. In 2025 the Labour government promised a draft bill by the end of the year. It's yet to appear. A ban on conversion practises must now happen, and be trans-inclusive. It's clear now, 50 years later what harms these practises have had on its survivors.

We must learn from history, and we must let it guide us on how we approach policy on LGBTIQA+ people. We must not let the current culture war stand in the way of doing something fundamentally good. We owe it to survivors to finish what was promised: ban conversion practises.

We were promised a draft bill on banning conversion practices by the end of 2025 and it's mid-December with no movement.

This government *must* commit to a trans-inclusive ban, especially following a report by the BBC into practices fifty years ago.

A statement on the recent Girlguiding decision.

We are incredibly disappointed by this decision, and concerned for the effects it will have on trans Guides, their Guides friends, and Guiding groups. It must be reversed.

Girlguiding decided to exclude girls and young women who were not recorded female at birth. This puts a vital support network out of reach for many young women and girls that need it most. They are being robbed of friendships, support and community. They are being segregated.

Many of our members were involved in scouting organisations when they were younger; some of us now hold positions of responsibility within those organisations, or have done so in the past. We all recognise the value that Guides brings to children and young people. Historically, Guides has provided safety, support and community for trans girls; girls who are already marginalised and face a high risk of harm. It is clear that this decision is wrong and will have a devastating impact.

Girlguiding opposes sexism and misogyny. But it is now following a transmisogynist Court and EHRC.

β€œWhoever they are, wherever they're from, girls can do anything”.

We demand Girlguiding live up to its ambitions. Girlguiding must reverse this decision.

All girls can do anything.

Yet GnRH agonists continue to be prescribed to cis children under 16.

This is a statement from Avery Greatorex:

After deep reflection, I have decided to resign my Labour Party membership, my Co-Chairpersonship of Pride in Labour and join the Green Party of England and Wales.

For years I tried to convince myself that I could create change from within the party and that Labour could be forced to rediscover its soul. The truth, however, is undeniable: Labour has abandoned its purpose and its people. For too long I tried to rationalise staying in the party and telling myself that my fight mattered but I cannot fight for liberation in a party that treats trans lives as disposable. I refuse to give my name, my sleep, my energy and attention to a movement that has chosen cruelty over courage. This is not a party of the working class, but a cruel machine built on control and careerism. It speaks of equality and justice whilst actively legislating misery, selling the lives of people who need them most to a far-right movement that isn’t listening.

The statement from Avery is continued:

My departure is about being true to yourself. I wish Pride in Labour and the few still fighting inside the organisation the utmost strength and resilience because they aren’t the problem here. The rot in the Labour Party lies deeper than them, it is a party that has forgotten what Labour means. The Green Party offers something Labour no longer can: a politics grounded in liberation, solidarity and sincerity. The Green Party is a space where trans rights are not up for debate, where the fight for social justice and climate justice is rightfully seen as the same fight.

I leave the Labour party with sadness but without regret because it is not us who left Labour, it is Labour that left us.

Former Co-Chairperson for Pride in Labour; and now a
Green Party of England and Wales Member.

Tell the BBC to stop attacking trans people The BBC is in shock after rightwing groups have claimed the broadcaster is against Donald Trump and β€œpro-trans”. But the reality is very different. A recent YouGov survey found that 70% of trans peopl...

Our allies at the @goodlawproject.bsky.social have a way for people to tell the BBC to stop attacking trans people.

As Trans Greens we thought it'd be nice to signal boost!
