Here Vox's explainer for just what is going on at the Department of Education which includes me saying I don't have faith in financial aid disbursement next year and, oh yea, I think we're in a constitutional crisis

Vile language and weaponization of gender norms are deeply unethical.

Doctors swear an oath to do no harm. A doctor who doesnโ€™t want to provide gender-affirming care can find another specialty. Itโ€™s that simple.

If you canโ€™t bear to use a patientโ€™s pronouns, you need to reflect on why that is.

This is just unacceptable. They get tax exemption for helping the public and the trade off is that their electioneering is limited. And THIS only allows religious orgs to do so. What about the 1.8 million other nonprofit organizations? Afraid food banks are not going to go Republican?

So everyone brown goes first, but theyโ€™re already laying the foundations for the elderly and disabled. The poor are an obvious target, but trans people and the rest of the rainbow will be sandwiched somewhere in there. My family needs to decide when to get out. Protect yourselves.

To trust the polling, the trends are perhaps more distressing among those still too young to have even dipped their toes into the work force. According to the data analyst David Waldronโ€™s assessment of the world-class Monitoring the Future Survey, run by the University of Michigan, in 2018, 84 percent of eighth- and 10th-grade boys said they agreed either โ€œcompletelyโ€ or โ€œmostlyโ€ that women should have the same job opportunities as men. Five years later, the number had fallen to 72 percent. The share who agreed โ€œat allโ€ that men and women should be paid the same money for the same work had fallen from 87 percent to 79 percent. The share who said they agreed โ€œcompletelyโ€ with equal pay for equal work had fallen from 72 percent to 57 percent โ€” just over half.

This isn't a stalled gender revolution. It's a gender counter-revolution. And the most troubling part is that it's younger men and boys the leading charge.

Pretty egregious error from this book: The authors say Swedish deaths fell by 2.3% during the pandemic, proving that the country's lax lockdown strategy worked.

But they misread their source: Mortality is only down if you remove the COVID deaths.

Nonprofit Killer Provision Quietly Disappears From Trumpโ€™s โ€œBig, Beautiful Billโ€ The infamous โ€œnonprofit killerโ€ provision quietly disappeared from Donald Trumpโ€™s "Big, Beautiful Bill" as it winds its way through Congress.

Massively good news: The provision that would have let the trump administration strip the tax-exempt status of any nonprofit organization they wanted simply by declaring them to be a "terrorist supporting organization" has been removed from the budget bill. Pushing back against these people works.

In an experiment, Pew Research Center demonstrated that opt-in and probability-based surveys produced very different results about young adults' views of the Holocaust and abortion.

If you encounter what seems like an implausible survey finding, ask:
1. Were survey respondents selected randomly or was this an opt-in poll?
2. Could the results, especially for young adults, be driven by bogus respondents?
