It does look like alerts went out (would like to hear more). A testament to the meteorologists at NWS offices working around this turmoil. Putting the country in this position is extremely dangerous. Lives are put at risk when there is not full and consistent staffing in these kinds of positions.

First, satellites do not replace radiosondes. Radiosondes are the ONLY way you can get measurements every 15โ through the atmosphere.
Second, services HAVE BEEN disrupted. Missed balloon flights is a disrupted service. Offices not open 24/7 is a disrupted service.
