Now that my son is at Roanoke College, I've been taking the opportunity when I travel down there to bring my bike and explore the nearby trails. Today was a beautiful day to ride. Fall in VA is amazing!

Much more generally, on a variety of fronts, we are seeing the attempted wholesale conversion of the coercive power of the state into a tool for extremely small, organized groups of people to command obedience (bullies, universities, schools, businesses, etc.).

Is that better or worse than painted over Phillips screws? My worst experience ever with this type of thing was removing storm window screws that were soft aluminum with many decades worth of paint and caulk over them. Never seen screws that strip so easily.

I'd really love some attempt at a quick build even if it has to be redone after utility work. It could inform a more robust system of protection, floating bus stops, etc. I drew the damn thing 3 years ago!

I still stand by this plan and am frustrated it's currently held up even though the City is trying to move it forward.

Rode the new and still in-progress Court Street protected bike lane and it’s already a thing of beauty. Makes such a difference on what used to be a very dangerous street for cycling.
