De geleefde ervaring van spijthebbers en detransitioners, en hun voorstellen over hoe hiermee moet worden om gegaan, zijn irrelevant voor hen die hun pijn hanteren als wapen tegen de gehele gemeenschap.
Wat motiveerd Van Dale om deze groep een megafoon te overhandigen?
Deze recente toename in het gebruik van het woord kan worden toegeschreven aan een aantal transfobische bewegingen en social media clusters die gevormd zijn in de laatste paar jaar.
Hen benadrukken het fenomeen "transitiespijt" als argument voor verdere inperking van toegang tot transzorg.
Een screenshot van de stempagina voor "woord van het jaar 2024" op de Van Dale website. Het woord "transitiespijt", een van de kandidaten in de stemming, is uitgelicht. Een bijbehorende definitie van het woord luidt: "Spijt die transseksuelen of transgenders hebben met hun transitieproces".
De uitgeverij Van Dale probeert de anti-trans beweging te legitimeren door "transitiespijt" naar voren te schuiven als kandidaat voor woord van het jaar 2024.
Slechts 1% van mensen die in medische transitie gaan hebben deze ervaring. In Nederland hebben we het dan over ongeveer 1.000 mensen. 🧵
