This patch by DoomyDoom appears to retranslate the entire story from scratch and localizes content that was previously left untranslated in the old 2013 patch.

THAT is the problem with "better than nothing". MTPE fan TL is worse than nothing. It's actively detrimental to the games supposedly being translated and the community at large.

It makes players associate the game with slop.

It forestalls good-faith translations.

It wastes everyone's time.

Unsurprisingly, I loved Paranormasight: The Mermaid's Curse. Great cast, and it uses its gameplay mechanics very tastefully to serve the story. Getting the true ending drove me insane, but it's up there with some of my favorite ADVs 😮 Was inspired to try sketching Sato 🐢

It's so funny how early Higashino is so straightforward with his style, so translation is fun until we hit the scientific terms and then Hell begins.

Picking back up my translation of Keigo Higashino to exorcise yesterday's disappointment over MTL.

Literary translation is so gruelling compared to the usual technical ones I do, but seeing the text coalescing slowly into something that feels nice is just so worth it.

For what it's worth, I'm genuinely sorry that you got blindsided like that, especially after being brought in at the tail end of the work.

It's great that you were here to transcribe and give depth to the references. Would that they applied this care to the entire script.

Thinking about how Emio's "What do you think?" and Paranormasight's "All your efforts have been truly remarkable" have oriented my tastes with detective fiction.
