agreed!! i think if they played it safe and tried to make something like 6 or 7, it wouldn't have hit the same. I love how different they all are from each other but 8 stands out the most to me!

I also think the entire game scaling to your level has its pros and cons, but even then, it's still a really good game that as you said has a unique identity that I think makes it stand out a lot from even the OG 10 FFs

I think the junction system definitely had really cool and great ideas, but there is definitely a lot that can be improved from the early game tedium of drawing spells. But I also think the high combustibility was really cool with the GFs and has a lot of replay value.

I legit hate when people say "THIS IS SLOP" and I ask "why do you say that?" and they say "i didn't like the game?" like that's not a critique that's your personal opinion >:(

Our best work tends to be the most personal, when we let go of our creative inhibitions. I feel that with older games. Devs made games because they wanted to make things they wanted and give players something enjoyable, not make social media buzz and trends. Video games are ART! ❤️

I think we've become so comfortable reducing criticism to "slop" and I feel like everything is a social media race to instantly gratify people that we can't find the beauty in games and devs feel like they have to force a masterpiece.

Masterpieces are made with natural care and integrity IMO

I think FF8 encapsulates my feelings on what I love about games. I love that it's flawed, but it's a far cry from "slop" and you can feel that the devs really poured their all into making a game that was engaging, graphically beautiful, and immersive. I love the ambition.
