Happy #StarWarsVisions Vol. 3 Eve to all who celebrate! π
29.10.2025 03:05 β π 37 π 8 π¬ 2 π 0If you'll indulge me, I think Star Wars' thematic views on the nature of life and death are well expressed through dialogue I myself wrote.
This is the Father of Mortis, speaking to Rey in the Netherworld of Unbeing to dissuade her from her quest of bringing Ben back to the temporal world.

And while that's a vast improvement on his grandfather's flaw, it's still a flaw.
He's still holding on.
And while he doesn't knowingly inflict suffering on others to save his love (like Vader did), Ben violates a cosmic law of reality, he defies the Force, undoing death itself to save his love
6/7
He certainly surpassed Anakin in that, who needed to save PadmΓ© for His sake, not her own.
But Ben was still unwilling to let Rey go for Her sake. Her life, her joys, her sorrows, her experiences. He needed them to continue, with or without him.

Ben repeated this mistake in a less possessive way.
Ben was able to let go of his Possession of Rey, giving his own life for her, much like Anakin, eventually, gave his life for his beloved son.
Ben learned this wisdom far earlier in life, while the woman he loved was still alive, which is good
4/7
If Ben is to truly finish what his grandfather started, he needs to accept the woman he loves will die, if that is her destiny.
And to destroy Palpatine through self-sacrifice to save the whole galaxy was absolutely Rey's destiny. Ben failed to let her achieve that, repeating Anakin's mistake.

Anakin was trying to stop the change, to stop the Suns from setting.
Anakin literally tried to stop the Suns of Tatooine from setting, racing the sunsset to save his mother from the ultimate change: Death.
He was trying to fight destiny, he was trying to Duel with Fate.
2/7
Opinion:
#BenSolo saving the woman he loves from death is NOT "finish[ing] what [Anakin] started", that's such a severe misunderstanding of Anakin's fall.
Anakin didn't fall because he was unAble to save his wife from death, his fall was because he was unWilling to let her die, as was her fate.

How did Adam get my script of Rey traveling to the Netherworld of Unbeing ala Orpheus to take Ben back to the realm of the living, despite warnings from the mortis Father (Sir Ian McKellen) this is how the original Dyad unbalanced the Force?
(Ben in the Netherworld theory in Alt text of these pics!)
@starwarsexplained.com is now officially more canon than I am!
Genuinely though, I couldn't be happier about this, Alex and @molliedamon.bsky.social are lights in this fandom when all other lights go out.
Always kind, passionate, fun, and brave, with keen and insightful analysis.
Congratulations!π
One of my favorite parts of the first game was Feinting my enemies; the game never tells you, but canceling your attack animation baits enemies into reacting.
Now in #GhostOfYotei enemies can feint too, as this enemy seems to cancel a slash when Atsu rolls away, and then transitions to a thrust!
#TheMandalorianAndGrogu
Now that we have another snowy planet (my favorite biome), they better not blow it up like the last two!
(Assuming it's not Starkiller or Kimji, which are both still around in this era.
They might be on a mission investigating the Imperial 'project' on Illum?)
Haven't seen anyone mention this yet, and it might prove to be a different creature, but this sure looks like a Greater Krayt Dragon to me!

Fight The Empire!
Cancel your Disney+ today, and tell them why:
The death of Truth is the ultimate victory of evil
Freedom is a pure idea
The Empire is a disease, never more alive than when we sleep
Oppression is the mask of Fear
The Monster who will come for us all soon enough is President Trump.
Disney has some of the best lawyers in the world, they could and should have fought this tooth and nail.
The fact that they'd rather risk public backlash, aka their profits, than a court case they're likely to win using the First Amendment, tells us everything about their loyalty to The Monster.
Remember when all the """fans""" pretended to suddenly care about Ki-Adi Mundi just because it was politically advantageous (hateful), when most of them didn't even know his name, and he wasn't even well-liked among his special group of hypocrites within his politically-entrenched religion?
18.09.2025 08:12 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Luke watches his Jedi Temple burn on Ossus, his narration reads "When I came to, the Temple was burning. He had vanished with a handful of my students. And slaughtered the rest."
In TLJ, Luke assumes Ben took "a handful" of his students. But we know from the Rise of Kylo Ren comics that Ben didn't take anyone.
3 Jedi chased after him, but they were already off-world when the Temple was destroyed, and 3 is not a handful, it's barely a few.
So who *did* take Luke's students?
Also, as a choreographer it's some of the best storytelling through choreo I've seen.
Bespin, Starkiller, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, The Princess Bride. The forest fight from The Acolyte
Technical complexity, evolving dynamics, character expression, themes, historical techniques. It's all there

26.07.2025 02:00 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Obviously this is drills, not a choreographed fight scene with other combatants or direction, and should be taken with a grain of salt
That being said, as someone who's done this for over 20 years, I think he's showing good skill and physical literacy, and that toss & catch flourish is very Ezra
Well, that took far longer than I expected it to.
I'm going to watch the State Of Play now, I hope someone found this mildly interesting!π
It would be really cool if they used the Japanese oppression of the Ainu as a direct parallel to the Mongol invasion of Tsushima.
If the Shogunate were the villains for this game, and Atsu takes inspiration from Jin's rebellion against the Shogunate (which would be explored in Ghost of Tsushima 2)
γSpoilers for the first game!γ
In history, Hokkaido/Ezo was invaded by the Mongols, but in this timeline the Ghost stopped the Mongol invasion at Tsushima, so that might be why events play out differently in this story.
In lieu of improving an already Greatest Of All Time combat system, that's the future I see for this series: leveraging and expanding already nearly-perfected (Tools could be better) mechanics to new horizons.
That and the storytelling of course which I have no doubt will be superb again.
Letting us spawn and place enemies, allies, animals, boss encounters, objects, etc. Letting us building encounters and share them with other players.
Maybe even, eventually, letting us build PvPvE battles with NPC enemies and allies for huge Lord of the Rings -esque epic battles.
Given what seems to be a non-linear story which lets you choose which order to hunt your targets (and potentially then acquire their unique weapons?), it would be really cool to lean into the less structured nature and provide some kind of encounter builder game mode.
10.07.2025 21:38 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0This symmetry in mechanics means that the combat could relatively easily be converted to PvP combat.
I believe the future of Ghost multiplayer is not just co-operative (though I love that mode), the future is PvP dueling, mass battles, and other game modes like an encounter builder.
All NPCs share the same foundational mechanics as the player: attacks, block, dodge, etc.
They can even animation cancel!
I've seen them charge a heavy attack and then cancel into a block, or attack but cancel the recovery frames into a dodge.
Which means they could feint, like the player can.
I see no reason to use the new firearm over the bow, which makes me unsure if we'll have a bow.
Especially because the instrument is where the bow usually is, and I don't think we've seen Atsu use a bow yet.
