I last used a sewing machine in 7th grade home ec…. I can mend seams and sew on buttons but that’s about it.

#FiberArts #Sewing friends — direct me to starter sewing machines. Inexpensive, simple, easy to learn on but not a kid machine but a tween/teen could use (does this exist?) My kid’s 12 and has been asking for years — *if* I can get someone to teach her I’d like to pursue this eventually

My kid has “Pioneer Day” at school tomorrow and she’s been assigned an 1860s(?) name — Edna

She is NOT pleased 😆 naturally, her little brother thinks this is hilarious

we learned so much! Tons of info, great photos, a lot on research process. Q&A reveals the author used to volunteer at our “local” wildlife rehab place, the one where my kids visit Lord Richard the Turkey Vulture. Also, Crows are amazing.

The Canadian geese we had in VA did! They’d hiss at you. Mean mean mean.

20 miles west of here there are tons of Canadian geese; 20 miles SE Aleutian geese overwinter at a wildlife refuge. But here? No geese. Just yesterdays lost soul lol

That actually prompted my post - ate peas and chicken but I wasn’t satisfied until I also ate the side of gluteny pasta the rest of the family was eating - AND once I ate that I was more alert and energetic

Just gluten sensitive. Honestly gluten is the least of my issues! I can’t do most of that list bc MCAS or potassium but there are a handful of things I can try to increase — blueberries (don’t like em but I’ll eat em), peas, rice, quinoa. Had peas with dinner last night actually!

That’s interesting - cross contamination in processing? (I’m not celiac, tolerate quinoa just fine)

I heard a goose yesterday. Haven’t seen or heard a goose in the nearly 7 years we’ve lived here. It’s like a goose desert (not that I’m complaining - those things are mean and messy).

Anyway. Two oddities.

Can someone explain why gluten free carbs never give me the same 1) full feeling or 2) energy/mood boost as carbs containing gluten? I’m puzzled — but it’s like my body wants the gluten — even tho they tell me (stool sampling a couple of yrs ago) I make antibodies to it and shouldn’t eat it.

Swim practice starts at 6am. Sunrise is around 7:30. 😳

Tho I have to add that certain members of my parents generation were positively scandalized by the idea

The info on Pakistani history and Pashtun culture is really well intertwined with the narrative story and the voice speaks to kids. I thought it might lose a lot of context but really didn’t find that to be the case. My daughter was very engaged, learned a lot. #BookSky #KidLit #WomensHistoryMonth

I’m almost out of PEM from Thursdays mammogram… buuuut I have to go back next Thursday for additional imaging bc it was abnormal. I’m not actually worried, I know lots of people get called back and it’s usually nothing — I’m more stressed about another round of PEM
