Lovely morning at Somerdale #parkrun. Big turnout in memory of Joan Gibson, former Somerdale RD, parkrun #volunteer stalwart and #Bitton Road Runner, who sadly passed away just over a week ago. Well done to Tina Dury and Lyndsey Miles for a great send off. Rest in Peace Joan.

NOTHING else matters.
Watching the masses finish now, you can see it's taken a lot of effort and pain to get there, and they are full of pride in their achievement.
A marathon is a marathon whether you do it in 2Β½ hours or 6 hours.
It does irritate me when non-elites #running the London #marathon are referred to patronisingly as "fun runners". There isn't a lot of fun in getting up at 7am on a wet windy February morning for a 15+ mile run.

There was a woman in the audience who is in her 90βs and has dementia. Her companion said that she loves parkrun, knows when sheβs there and it makes her happy.
