Now that he’s started a war, I’ve completely forgotten that he’s a pedophile.

One of the reasons I find buildings like the Flatiron so fascinating is they bring that divide between the inside (safe, warm, known) and the outside (the chaotic unknown) starkly to the fore. It's like The City and The City.

Government of Jersey The Assisted Dying Citizens' Jury will take place via online sessions in Spring 2021. The Jury will be selected at random and will demographically represent the Island's population

A lot of coverage today in the UK about the passing of the Jersey legislation on assisted dying. But in the coverage I’ve seen there’s no mention of the Citizens’ Jury on Assisted Dying which played a role in the broader public engagement process πŸ‘‰πŸΌ www.gov.je/Caring/Assis...

The secrecy of the ballot matters

Those on X with racalised and radicalised view using anecdotes about family voting do not mean that they want Asian women's autonomy to express their own vote; they mean they don't want Asians to be voters, and need mass deportations

A despicable slur from Goodwin. He should be ashamed of himself; but of course he'll resist the shame. He's deliberately cast himself into the pit of hatred.

A big +1 from me. Absolutely critical that we shout loudly and regularly about how brilliant the UK's electoral system is. Impartial, professional, and free of partisan nonsense.

Chris Mason bangs on about Labour's right and left flanks. I don't think that has anything to do with the outcome of the by-election. imo it's poor public services, stuttering economy, and because we feel fractious and brittle in our political selves. #r4today

After your ears have unlocked the full power of schwa, they can then grasp an even greater English sound: schwi.

Really enjoying @dannybate.bsky.social's "Why Q needs U".

Why was I never told about the schwa! The most common vowel sound in English, it has no specific letter (A, E, I, O, and U can all be sounded as schwa). Now I'm seeing it EVERYWHERE.

Fascinating stuff.

It seems to me that those in favour of #AssistedDying are wanting people to decide for themselves, whilst those opposed are wanting to decide for them.

Lovely to hear the shout out to Le Guin's A Wizard of Earthsea on #r4today. One of the very best books I've read. Deceptively simple (a short story about a wizard), it's got enormous power to move, written in Le Guin's wonderful prose.

South Korea court cites Charles I precedent to convict Yoon of insurrection South Korea court cites Charles I precedent to convict Yoon of insurrection Court links ancient treason doctrine to modern verdict as Jee Kui-youn hands Yoon life sentence for Dec. 3 martial law

Absolutely fascinating to see the trial of Charles I cited in modern day South Korea.

Be interesting whether the regicide could ever be used as a precedent in an English court though...
