My (smol) essay in this is "Interactive Fiction Games and Stand Up For Kids: How I Learned to Write Comedy For Kids"

Where I go talk about my experience making Interactive Fiction for kids how *you* can make kids laugh with your writing.

I was, shall we say, “slightly resistant” to receiving help after this money was stolen from me, but I’ve been sufficiently cowed by friends privately chewing me out for shame and pride. Dylan has kindly offered to do this for me, and many others have wanted to help directly. Options in replies.

We have a saying in France about his politics, which we call "le En-même-temps", aka "at the same time", which means that anything he says, he will do the opposite while keeping some semblance of public image while still exerting the exact opposite in practice.

That's *exactly* the feeling 😆

Also, look at this INSANE lineup. It's hard to not feel like one of those bands in a smaller font on a big music festival poster.

Really don't know what to say, think, feel, or do anymore.

They will displace around 800K+ people, and maybe potentially invade (like they weren't illegally occupying parts of the country for decades).

Truly maddening how bloodshed and war have become a staple of our existence.

I'm very grateful for the opportunity to be amongst all these wonderful people.

There's a lot of lovely stuff in here for everyone.

This book is a delight. The format itself is playful, low-pressure and inviting, and it's pack full with gems and insightful, bite-size commentary. And: affordable!

Honored to have contributed with a small note on Economy as a Narrative Tool, a subject near and dear to my heart... 👀

I think my top 10 advice are (no particular order):

1) Don't bring your A Game to a project unless you have a solid contract and/or you have a proven record that both parties can handle conflict in a mature way. Don't waste years of your life for the sake of people who obviously don't respect you.

And most importantly: don't get yourself stuck in several of those situations at the same time!!! 🫠

Anyway. There blows my wisdom. Hope that helps somebody!

(Bonus one: on larger teams, careful about what your client is telling/not telling the rest of the team, and the messy friction that this can cause without you quite understanding why. It doesn't even have to be mean-spirited or willful, but miscommunication can get REAL bad when freelancing.)

10) Talk with other freelancers and ask stuff. Ask about their rates. Ask what their working conditions look like. It's SO easy to get completely isolated while freelancing, and just blindly feel your way around stuff other people have navigated already.

9) You need to do side stuff for you!! Stuff that makes you feel creative, fulfilled, skilled! Not even for an audience maybe, just for you. Something really cringe!
You need to do that. For me.

(mostly for you and your own sense of control while dealing with uncontrollable outcomes)
