Just seen part one of the (inevitably) overblown new film version of WICKED, as proved by its division into two long films, which ladles on its metaphors of oppression and control with an even heavier hand than the stage original. But fierce (Cynthia Erivo) & fabulous (Ariana Grande) save the day.
