As educators we need to be open with our students and let them know when we use it for supporting our work as well!

Student concern:

AI can save time and empower students to learn.

“It’s why we need to learn correct ways to use AI. It can enhance our learning. To keep our voice, our ideas and improve our creativity.”

AND students are understanding not just the value, but the need for a balanced approach!

“We should be using it now.”

Students understand the need they have to be able to utilize AI in the future to not fall behind their peers - that means they need to be building their knowledge and skills now!

We can get so caught up in so many things, BUT we have to always bring it to: “What do students need that I teach?”

Whatever we are doing ask: “How can this support and empower Ts?”

Connection w/ ourselves, using time to center ourselves & to connect with others.

Creativity, giving ourselves the time we need to allow for creativity to take place! (It’s not something you can rush).

2. I love this thought provoking quote: “Is the goal to do more or to do better?”

We could and should spend some time thinking on this one. With the usage of AI increasing seemingly daily, what is the end goal, to what end? I want to “do better” as a result of using AI.

1. @edcamposjr.bsky.social is 1 of “my people”! The last few years I have noticed and begun to make an effort to bring creativity back to the classroom! #EduSky #EdTech

2. You don’t have to understand something 100% before deploying it in your classroom!

This allows students to see us as we are - life long learners who aren’t afraid to try and even fail. It will create a wonderful environment where Ss can explore, learn, and grow!!!

Are we preparing Ss for success in their future careers & life? Giving them the tools they need & teaching them how to succeed? Or are we preparing Ss to succeed at school?

1. Reframing cheating to “compromising learning” for our students. Allow students to see the importance of their education so that they choose to learn.

I loved adding student voice and opportunity in my class. I once had a young lady ask if she could create, design, & record an interpretive dance for her final. She did and then we watch it together while she explained the connections and demonstrated her knowledge and understanding of standards!

This morning’s takeaways : “Amplify who the student is” and “Ask what they want to create”.

Students are talented, creative, & capable! Let’s give them chances to shine!

3. If we, as educators, are not intentionally and proactively thinking toward the future and toward what students need to know and be able to do not just for now but for THEN, we are not fulfilling our promises to them.

2. Those with more resources inherit more. This is not just true with trusts and wills, etc. some of our students are not “inheriting” the skills, abilities and knowledge they will need to succeed in the “science fiction” reality of the future.

1. Your inheritance is what has been passed down from others to you. You have no control over what you inherit - what are we passing down to our students?
