Ancient textile fragment depicting hummingbirds excavated in Nazca, Peru. Embroidered using dyed animal fibre from llamas, alpacas or vicunas, which absorb dye more easily than cotton, producing more vivid colours, this small object, still with its vibrant colours, dates back to 400BC-AD500.

Successful lunchtime patio skate in these beauties. However, I can only stop by smashing into the garage on one side and fence on the other. This may not be the best approach.

25.01.2025 10:15 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0A giant walrus, the size of an elephant, sits on a fiberglass ice platform, in a display hall of a museum. It has long white tusks and pebbly brown skin. From Atlas Obscura: "Walrus, standing proud (photograph by Tom Natt)"
The Horniman Natural History Gallery features this stunning walrus.
It was transported to England, purchased in 1886. There, the taxidermists, having never seen one in the wild, stuffed it until the wrinkles smoothed out.
This is a fully inflated walrus, my friends.
MAXIMUM WALRUS.

An amazing c. 3,400 year-old ancient Egyptian dog carved from ivory. This leaping hunting dog opens and closes its mouth, as if barking, by using a lever below its chest. π· by me
