16.11.2025 05:22 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0The book I'm reading had two words I had to look up. The first was "ordure", which was in a nearby dictionary and was a pleasant surprise. The second was "stuprate", which was not in three dictionaries, two hardbound and one softcover. The huge Webster's Unabridged had it. It's also online.

Not sure about the 1990s meme applying to my 1960s/1970s school days. The definitions are different...but I wanted to achieve *my* goals, not *theirs* (not sure that's understood, but...), and mine were fuzzy. Constantly moving.
I wonder if I *had* an ideal. I bet, for everyone, YMMV.
I suspect very few reach their ideal.
Years ago, I decided to re-paint all the trim in my house. Got that done, was pleased, *and* was pleased at what I'd learned doing it (transcended the goal). Then I decided to re-paint every wall and ceiling. Damn the goalposts.
Whoever reaches his ideal transcends it eo ipso. -- Friedrich Nietzsche

12.11.2025 01:11 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0It's an art form.
When I was looking for a house, I liked using a powerful flashlight on walls and corners. It didn't matter much but I wanted to see if others were as bad as I was at making things match up. Esp. kitchen countertops where they meet a door or dishwasher. Moulding = coverup.
When the Supreme Court decides to not hear a case, does that mean "Go away, not worth my time"?
