The new DOE report tries to downplay wildfire as a climate concern by highlighting declining global fire trends. Yes, global burned area declined ~25% since 2001. But they completely omit WHY: agricultural expansion converting fire-prone savannas to farmland (Andela et al. 2017, Science). 🤔🧪
