Just sent a draft of a thing which included the words “chainsaw=online surveys”…is this how you academic? 🤷‍♂️

“Oh that’s the last of it” the baker said as some bread drops. The messenger pigion grabs it sticking her tongue out at Pat. Pat yells “prick!”

Pat looks said and thinks “Aw no I’ve let my coop down. I promised them a fancy dinner and now we will have fuck all. “ but then the baker who turns out to be an old man on a bench says “don’t worry ma wee pal I saved this for you” before handing some bread to Pat.

Pat thought bubbles: PAT: The bakery never used to be this busy. It’s been rammed since it started trending on Flocker. I used to come here every weekend. It’s changed a lot since then, but the bread is still the best in the city.

Been getting lots of serious stuff done lately. Was thinking what should I do next & the obvious answer was make a comic about a queer pigeon getting some bread. So meet Pat, they are 47 years old & live in a communal coop with a bunch of other middle aged queers.

Yes there are growing issues with domestic abuse & yes there are issues with people partaking in risky sexual behaviour without proper communication & precaution. The way to address this is sex education. Ignorance and kink shaming have never helped anyone. They just continue the cycle of harm.

Christ this is poor journalism. Looked up the stroke stat,it was a mix of an unpublished thesis & a thesis that had only 5 participants who had had strokes.Much of the work cited here is about domestic abuse not consensual kink. Also COVID has been associated with the rise in strokes.

I mean it is quite a beefy book!😂

Maybe the more senior I get the bigger I get in comparison to publications, right now I’m just peaking out from behind them 😂

The physical copy of the handbook I recently contributed to arrived today!

I doubt the novelty of seeing my work published will wear off anytime soon. Due to my dyslexia, I couldn’t read a whole book untill I was about 13 so continually surprised that writing is such a big part of my job 😅

Supposedly world leading researchers supporting not only a report with terrible methodology but also recs that could lead to major issues with ethics, measurement validity & response rates.

I love seeing senior academics, with considerable power over me, like reports that call for free rain to harass trans staff & students🙃

Daytime Ken: Serious academic running a research placement

This placement specifically focuses on quantitative social science. The participant will be provided tools to criticaly engage with data via a feminist lense & design her own research. She will primarily work with data from the Scottish Health Survey & Scottish Index of Multiple Deprivation.

Had a busy week! Yesterday I found out I’m getting promoted to lecturer & today I had my PhD graduation! Also got to watch my first ever undergrad dissertation student graduate with a first! So impressed by them! 😁
