Hello. Social media is overwhelming.

Why is donating blood so embarrassing. Like yeah, of course I'm going to break out in a cold sweat if someone is literally draining my life force from me. But I feel so silly >:

It’s been 7 years today since we had to say goodbye to a cat who might have been carved right out of my soul.

I still miss him and his brother dearly, even after all this time.

Just scooped up Dunkin when he was trying to get into the room where Pip is teaching a trans studies class, gave him a faceful of kisses, and said "Don't bother them sweetheart, they're teaching tomorrow's youth." Despite how shit the world is, I've really settled into my dream life.

I've survived another hockey off-season.

I want to believe we will get there, one day. That we are just as capable of good, beauty, betterment as we are destruction, death, and evil...but it's hard, and it's getting harder.

I don't want to live in a walking snuff film anymore. I don't want to live in the world where rose gardens are filled in with cement and data centers that power psychosis-inducing and job-stealing algorithms.

I want to live in a world of fresh air. Of reverence for the beauty of life. Of peace.

I can't fathom that flags will go half mast today, when I have digitally witnessed countless unimaginable horrors being perpetrated on babies, children, families in Gaza. Things that should be unforgivable -- should irrevocably change us -- and instead, are ignored, silenced, or worse -- celebrated.

I have a heavy heart today. Not because I hold empathy for a man who would spit on my grave (and likely would have loved to be the man to have put me in it), but because I feel like our world is so inevitably soured and rotten -- and somehow, we have to keep existing and doing our best within it.

Instead, I live in a world where I never know when I'm going to witness the recording of an actual murder in 4k -- and not even have time to process that horror because I immediately have to begin fearing that my community is going to somehow be scapegoated for it, just because we dain to exist.

I simply want to live in a world where joy, kindness, and universal safety is lauded and strived for.

Pip and I went on a writing retreat that was gifted to us this weekend and it was so magic. We stayed in a little cottage from the 1700's on some farmland and lost ourselves in the world we've spent years creating. Highly recommend self-made writing retreats. Already planning another one. :)

Seeing this makes me so nostalgic in the best way possible

The fun thing about the new game changer episode is that it like…so closely resembled a Wayfinder LARP. Only thing it was missing was a big battle.

My country is threatening to take away my marriage and I have to clock into work. Do the dishes. Go to the grocery store. Not act like all I want to do is scream and cry and thrash and hurt.

There was also for the longest time (still is?) a framed photo of homestuck cosplayers in the Applebees of my childhood hometown.

I stopped reading it probably over a decade ago but my spouse recently reread the whole thing and tried to infodump at me and I had no clue half the stuff they were talking about, but seeing the animation made me feel some type of way (& seeing the internet in an uproar just felt like home lmao)

Homestuck being in the zeitgeist again is so funny. It was only a matter of time. And I love the kiddos being like “omg I’ve been a homestuck since 2019 this is genuinely devastating” meanwhile I was there when the ancient tombs were written, here’s fanart I drew in 2011

From the bottom of my heart: no. I’m not going to waste my time tailoring my creativity and perspective and precious little energy to someone else’s definition of acceptability

And I think that's because, with clear eyes and clear heart, the truth is that I have such a deep love for the world around me. And that love, even though it is so large it sometimes feels scary, is important to me. And it wants to be seen.

So, here's my mushy, weird, sentimental bsky post.

All to say. Perhaps I am called to sentimentality because it has been within me all along, and I finally have clear enough eyes when I look at myself to understand that this is how I was meant to be, even if it can sometimes feel like I'm being too much.

I give myself and the world around me the grace to be imperfect and complicated -- which is the biggest gift I could have ever given myself. And if I ever find room for improvement, I try to improve without promising myself perfection.

I'm healthier now, in mind, body, and spirit. I'm able to navigate that path with more kindness toward myself and others. I'm able to let go of things that do not serve me. I'm able to let go of these things without dismissing that what doesn't serve me might serve others, and vice versa.
