Mel Medarda, you've strengthened my mental fortitude, my emotional security, my sense of self when there's no one else to turn to. She is heartbreak turned exoskeleton and oil-based balm on the canvas of complicated mother—daughter relationships. She is both the sun and the north star and we're all just living in her nebula, but she would never waver, even on the brink of collapse.

MOD SPOTLIGHT Hayden: Art Mod Intern Mod Bio: Game artist, illustrator and streamer, I fell in love with Arcane when it first aired. I quickly grew fond of three specific characters, including our beloved Mel. Her design appealed me to then discover an optimistic, smart, kind-hearted strong woman. She is one of the characters who inspired me and my art to such an extent that it pushes me to create! My love and experience in creating for zines and merch drew me to join this project. Previous experience: - Organizer & Art Mod on the JoJo's Retro Adventures Fanzine - Experience as a colourist assistant on published French cartoons - Freelance illustrator & comic artist

MOD SPOTLIGHT Cass: Discord Support Mod Bio: While I was late joining the Arcane fandom, the series has captured my whole heart. From the art to the incredible characters, Arcane has inspired me to get back into writing fanfic. My favourite thing about Mel Medarda is how she navigates familial loyalty and fighting for what she believes is right. Her experience being exiled from home resonates, and she's quickly become one of my favourite characters of all time. MOD SPOTLIGHT Cali: Art and Merch Mod Mod Bio: Howdy! I'm a teacher by day, illustrator by night, and full time lesbian. The women in Arcane of course drew me to the series, but I was blown away by the artistry and love how the show conveys the political through the lens of the personal. I especially love how Arcane is about the legacy of daughters. Mel is a striking character--THE most beautiful woman in the world. I love that she wields perfection and charm as a tool but that her desire to succeed still comes from a place of inadequacy. And how she tries to forge her kinder path in the world that's unlike what she's seen or come from.
