Official snowfall yesterday 6.0 cm at St. John's #YYT puts the total for Feb 1-26 at 178.2 cm, meaning February will go in the books the snowiest calendar month on record for the airport. Previous month with most snow was December 2000 with 173.4 cm.

Into some milder air today after the latest batch of snow. Picked up 12 cm overnight through this morning in #GanderWest. Was relatively fluffy with water equivalent just 7.4 mm, but compacting quickly with the increasing temperature. Reading 2.5Β°C at 1 pm. #nlwx

With 165.2 cm Feb 1-22, St. Johnβs #YYT is now less than 5 cm from its snowiest February on record (170.1 cm in 2006) and closing in on its snowiest calendar month (173.4 cm, Dec 2000). A few more days to get there! #nlwx
As of February 22, St. Johnβs #YYT has recorded 376.4 cm of snow this season β already past the full-season 30-year average of 363.4 cm. Climatology says ~30% of the seasonal total still falls after this pointβ¦ which would be another ~110 cm in a typical year. βοΈπ #nlwx

A fairly constant snowfall rate for the past several hours has put us at 19.7 cm in #GanderWest as of 6pm. SWE 19.3 mm, so it has been trending towards a more dense nature.

Low centre moving away toward the northeast, but a persistent conveyor of moisture wrapping back around it. Rates near 2 cm/hr in #Gander over the past couple of hours. Lesser rates and wetter on the coast and across the Avalon this afternoon where temperatures are milder. #nlwx

Not getting anywhere near the accums that areas further east are reporting, but it's rather drifty in #GanderWest with temp still below zero. Also had 0.5 mm of preceding freezing drizzle overnight to make surfaces slippery.

Another 1 cm of snow last night in #GanderWest, bringing our season-to-date total to the 400 cm mark.
On average we see another ~180 cm after mid-February, so unless thereβs a dramatic shift, we should have no trouble exceeding the seasonal normal of 443 cm. May happen soon! #nlwx
