After 9 straight days of zeroes, a few raindrops yesterday evening makes for enough to submit an entry of Trace in CoCoRaHS for #GanderWest. Need far more to bust the drought. #nlwx

Though rather hazy/smoky, Friday’s temperatures rose into the upper 20s and low 30s across much of the province.

Onshore breezes kept the NE Avalon a bit cooler, but that will change tomorrow as a west to southwesterly flow becomes established throughout. #nlwx

A measurable reduction in air quality (moderate category) is evident in central Newfoundland, largely attributable to long-range transport of smoke aloft. Subsidence beneath strong high pressure is facilitating its descent toward the surface. 🌫

Lots to see on satellite.

Big picture shows long-range transport of smoke aloft from western Canada to Newfoundland. Also, TS Dexter spinning to the south.

Close up zoom shows smoke plumes from two local wildfires on the Avalon.

After that we warm back up, but no sign of anything near the 30+Β°C readings we've recently had anywhere in the foreseeable future.
