The very first lecture I had at art school, told us that we weren't there to learn to make beautiful images. We were there to learn to communicate ideas. (That could sometimes be beautiful but also not.)

If we wanted to make "soulless beauty" we were pointed to the door.

This was 20 years ago.

I want indie comics and zines to be trendy at cons so bad! I want artists to feel free to express themselves and connect with other fans with a bunch of cheap stapled photocopies, I want anyone who wants to practice their storytelling to be able to do so without worrying about not selling enough!

it made me laugh how the only revolutionary leader they could compare the heroine to and mention was jeanne d’arc. Felt extremely “the previous 100 ones were too leftist for the mouse”.

Went to the cinema yesterday and we saw the hoppers trailer (pixar). Incredible how so many animated movies refuse to have whimsy and wonder. This has been my bone to pick with Pixar, many of their movies are so corporate in their writing and treatment of complex systems. And also -
