Supporting the Iranian people’s right to determine their own future must remain a priority of American foreign policy.

We should stand firmly with peaceful protesters and demand accountability for repression, including the release of political prisoners, an end to executions, and transparency about the violence inflicted on civilians.

Opposing an open-ended war with Iran does not mean abandoning the Iranian people in their pursuit of freedom, justice, and dignity. Iran’s government has long posed serious threats in the region. The Iranian people deserve democracy, human rights, and the rule of law.

Once again, people in power are making the choices and expecting regular families to pay the price. Whether it’s taxpayers already struggling with groceries, rent, and health care, or American service members and the military families who could be sent into harm’s way.

The American people were promised an end to reckless foreign wars. Instead, President Trump seems to be leading us toward another open-ended conflict in the Middle East without a clear strategy, without transparent objectives, and without a serious conversation with Congress or the public risks.

If we are going to ask Americans to serve and sacrifice, then we must have the courage to follow the Constitution and the clarity to tell them exactly what they are fighting for.

It is time to end the occupation of Minneapolis. I am horrified by the killing in Minnesota this morning. Based on what we’ve seen from the multiple witness videos, the victim was innocent and not a threat. The violence at the hands of ICE must stop.
