I will add that any Black student who didn’t want their character to have anime features had no problem generating characters that looked like them. Apparently, the AI (programmers) think anime characters should only be white.

We taught students the program Book Creator. A Black student wanted Black anime characters. We told AI pic generator “black skin”, “brown skin”, “black features”, and continued to get white characters. Finally, I typed in “African features” and the character came back w/a semblance of black skin. 😒

The Importance of Professional Board Game Translations When you open a board game box, the first thing you see is usually the artwork and the neatly packed components. They are what make you want to play the game.

Here is why I think board game publishers should use professional translators and not rely on the community, friends or AI. While those are cheap, chances are they lead to issues that are more costly.

We’re listening to Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief in class. Percy says, “We laid our damp clothes by the fire to dry.” The narrator does not articulate the /p/ well enough so all everyone heard (including me) is “damn clothes”.

This is a game I should get back on the table. It took me a few plays to like it. I can also see how it’s not for everyone. I feel like there is usually a turn or two that goes to complete waste due to not having the right cards.

I purchased this art at Gen Con 2025. We’d been on the lookout for a good frame. Found one at Goodwill this evening.

The edition we’re playing had upgraded pieces instead of the cardboard tiles that came with the game. All I can say is keep the tiles. Yes, there is some fiddling with bits, especially with initial set up.
