Over 2500 years old! Head of Life and Death,300-600 BCE, Veracruz stone sculpture symbolizing duality, both life and death in the same face. It shows the region's rich artistic traditions, merging elements of spirituality and mortality, symbolizing the eternal cycle of existence and transformation.

The museum description: β€˜Amber mould-blown glass conical beaker with a flat base. Decorated with six rows of almond-shaped bosses.’ But these types of knobby beakers are thought to represent Hercules club. Finds of this type from numerous military sites across the Roman empire may suggest that soldiers in particular liked to have glass tableware that recalled the strength and drinking prowess of the great hero.

The deep amber color is very striking, and some multi-colored iridescence can be seen - little areas of green, purple, and blue.

Roman, eastern Mediterranean, ca. 70-100 CE. Excavated around the early 20th century in Tyre, Lebanon.
